My pucks were red and disintegrated from when I had engine built years ago. Last winter I put blk pucks in while doing complete engine re fresh. So far no problems. Makes a huge difference.

I installed a new basket and when I put it back on it was wobbling in and out and had a tad play left and right, do you know if this is normal?

Basket should not have any play in it. It’s possible you missed something or the bushing in the middle is worn.
