Atreides music was heroic, with a touch of tribal to show their courage and loyalty, they looked upon one another as family with a high sense of honor and always had high morale going into battle. Harkonnen music was heavy, industrial, to show their disregard for humanity and compassion. Like huge factories with black smoke coming out, they only care about power and their goal. Ordos music was heavily distorted and artificial, they are not conventional in their operations, their plan is to disrupt the plans of their enemies like a virus would do to its host.

I’d argue Ordos is most power oriented. The Harkonnen made personal vendetta against the Atreides (and in Emperor, each other) a major part of their motivation. They don’t care if their spite and malice got in the way of efficiency. The Ordos are unfeeling. Nothing is personal. Everything is a business. Result is all that matters.

@@Th0ughtf0rce Ordos played in a very devious way though, from flamer type weapons as basic troops, to flyers that transport suicide bombers to their destination and explode, tanks that could move AND shoot. House Ordos favored being a conniving little shithead on the battlefield. It was pretty great.

@@mrbigglezworth42 it is the most efficient if you can play it well. Their tanks heal and regenerate shields. Unless you meet other laser tanks or Sardaukar elites, then it’s just one glorious train wreck. I love how they interpreted the Holtzman effect.

I prefer Harknonnen music but there is no doubt this was the music that really capture the "spirit" of the franchise, the military vibe with the tribal chanting, almost as in a battlefield full of vehicles and fremen marching to battle.

Remember the days games still had good music? When games had the complete package of good gameplay, good storyline, good music, originality etc. Nowadays games are rushed and we are left with 'ok' gameplay and just a random storyline to fill up cutscenes plus some generic soundtrack. Anyway we experienced the good days, let's remember it:)

Thats quite a generalization you got there. There are modern games with great stories and absolutely amazing soundtracks. For example, check soundtrack of Ace Combat 7 (Daredevil, Archange, Faceless Soldier). Might not be your cup of tea, but you cant deny these are masterpieces on their own right (and the game came out in 2019)

This is the best Atreides scores from every Dune games out there. This song kinda tells you that the Atreides are patriotic fellas willing to fight for justice and freedom, not a lousy tree hugging peace keepers. In-game I used to start my major assault when this song is played :p

i always tell people that dune CnC universe did not dissapoint. although the story is not flesh out enough but the plot is there, the identity for each house is there. seriously dune universe is such a perfect setting for a command and conquer games. one planet, 3 major house, one emperor, several side houses with its own gimmick. hot damn

Paying attention to this song in particular, there is considerable reference to 'Under Construction' from Dune 2000. I just love it how old Klepacki is always remixing his old works to create even more epic soundtracks.

The actual story of the book was the emperor and harkonnen teamed against atreides and killed the duke but his son escaped into the desert and was able to become the fremens leader who worshiped him as a god. They then captured Dune and he became the emperor.

+Bangladeshi Dune Fan Actually EA's license of the Dune franchise has expired. If a studio wants to make any kind of game set in the Dune universe first they need to ask Brian Herbert for permission. Also what is UbiSoft going to do with the franchise besides another open-word sandbox action-adventure game? If there's a studio that deserves to make a Dune game it's either Petroglyph Games (i.e. the reincarnation of Westwood) or Ironclad Games (if its set during the Butlerian Jihad as you say it should, then the gameplay could be similar to Sins of a Solar Empire, given how much space travel there's gonna be involved).

I wonder how do the rights really work though? The original games were always based on the films, hence why they had the mention of Dino DeLaurentiis, so I wonder have the rights all reverted back to Brian Herbert now or is there some complication regarding the films? Would be nice to get some decent games again though. I really miss Westwood-style RTS too; other kinds of RTS are great but it's just not the same without a fleet of harvesters etc. Been replaying Dune 2000 over the last year or so and I've sometimes lost hours getting entranced again... Westwood's RTS is unlike anything we've seen since.
