Bappanadu Sri Durga Parameshwari Temple
🕉️Bappanadu Sri Durga Parameshwari Temple: Where Legends Meet Harmony🕉️
1. Temple History: 🏰 The temple's origins are shrouded in time, but its architecture hints at a rich heritage dating back to the 14th century.
🌿 Legend has it that the Sapta Durgas-Goddesses collectively responsible for slaying the demon Darigasura-settled near Mulki after their celestial victory.
🌊 The Goddess emerged symbolically at the confluence of the Shambhavi and Nandini Rivers, blessing this sacred land.
2. Unique Deity: 🌸 The main deity, Goddess Sri Durgaparameshwari (lovingly called 'Ulladi' by the Tuluvas), is worshipped in the form of five Lingas.
🕉️ These Lingas represent Moola Durga, Agni Durga, Jala Durga, Vana Durga, and Agra Durga-all on a single Panipeeta.
🌟 Imagine the divine energy resonating from this convergence!
3. Communal Harmony:🤝 Bappanadu exemplifies unity beyond boundaries. Built by a Muslim merchant named Bappa Beary, it is a testament to communal harmony.
🕌 Muslims perform special prayers here, and the rare practice of accepting prasada (blessings) bridges faiths.
💐 Even local Christians contribute by selling jasmine flowers exclusively to the temple during festivals.
4. How to Reach:
🚌 From Mangalore City, hop on one of the frequent buses to Mulki or Udupi.
