Definitely. It was refreshing to see Batman (my fav superhero from childhood) from a different perspective. I mostly enjoyed the journey to hope.

I'm actually going to write a paper on this movie for one of my seminary classes! Took some of my Bible study group out to go see it, and we had some good theological discussion afterward. Great movie!!!

Absolutely loved Bruce's arc in this story and caught the baptism imagery and Christian metaphors too. The influence of Long Halloween, Earth One, Zero Year and even some Mask of the Phantasm was great.
@ChrisDurban2 жыл бұрын
I loved all those influences! But, as you may know, I also love finding all the Christian imagery and this movie had some great imagery!

I loved this Batman film. It’s now my second favorite Batman film. I love your analysis here and your attention to Christian imagery. I feel this movie was a stripping of identity and an awakening of a new one. He’s stripped of the Batman so he can find “Bruce” again. He’s consumed by vengeance. He finds himself again and will be better because of it. But I think your spot on about Baptism here. That is so powerful. Baptism is truly a symbol of burying our old selves and rising again to new life. Good seeing you back Durban. Hope Texas is treating you well.

hi Durban, we forgot to watch this video months ago and now this recent news brought us back here. Did you hear about the passing of legendary voice actor Kevin Conelly aka Batman of The Animated Series 🕊️
@jeezed29502 жыл бұрын
Fantastic job! I spotted most of these things but you pointed out things I missed as well. Great video!
Rob’s emo hair drove me crazy 😜 but i really enjoyed the movie! I love how strongly they built and portrayed The Batman’s relationship with Jim Gordon. The way it went beyond simply trusting in each other’s good intentions - to genuinely and intentionally choosing to rely on each other. (Granted my only vivid recollection for comparison is the Chris Nolan / Christian Bale trilogy - so that bat/gordon relationship may have been shown equally strongly in other versions that I don’t remember) Groovy analysis, sir! 👍🏻😎
@ChrisDurban2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I did like the Batman/Gordon relationship in this movie too. They’re in the foxhole together, and they have the same goals so they really connect. It was well done.

it sounds like pattinsons version is slightly better than ben afflecks, though chris bale did have a good portrayal of batman cause of what we saw with selina kyle, and pattinsons version seemed to do a good job with a fun interact with zoe kravitz's interp of catwoman

It's really fascinating how well you see Jesus at the center of it all!!! I enjoyed this movie, but I didn't get the baptism imagery at all at first. I may have to watch this movie again. Thanks for your insightful observation and explanations. Keep it up, Durban! Well done. 🇧🇧

My favorite Batman will always be the late Kevin conroy, because that Batman displayed so much complex humanity. Yes he was living in darkness but he always helped others. He didn’t come across as an agent of vengeance to me instead he was a champion of hope. The end of this Batman movie made me happy since this is the route I want Batman to go in.

what i would reccomend you watch durban is the batman movies from 89 through 97 the burton batman movies with michael keaton are fun the schumacher batman ones, are ok, but could use some commentary to carefully pick at it im on the side of supporting all four of these films, despite ppl's critcisms with a actors performance in either returns, forever or batman and robin

I grew up on all four of those movies. The 4th one is just so hard for me to get into. And the first two will forever be classics to me.

this isn't a batman vs riddler movie, it's a batman vs bruce wayne movie in which bruce is trying to take back his life and the batman is trying to subdue bruce with his hatred. that's why at the end the final battle isn't with riddler, it's with the people inspired by batman and his vengeance. so what batman said at the end did come true, it is the end of the batman because it's the beginning of bruce wayne

Epicly done! ^.^ Call yourself darkness long enough you start to believe it. Realize there is something real, something better, and suddenly The Cave (Plato's or Batsies) gets a whole lot less interesting compared to really living. Shows how powerful hope is, even in The Bat's life, when he has hope he makes Sups seem a little grumpy, and when he doesn't... he's The Joker with a different tailor. I do think it's interesting that even in The Animated Series and JL/JLU when the character had hope he was in the sun more, when he didn't he was almost scared of the light. (to be seen. ^.^)

It was hard to not want justice, that we see "good "things happen to ppl who hurt us. But those good things happen to them , material wealth ? When U find out the truth that Narcisist are demon possession. And other mean ppl were just raised wrong and didn't know how to love then.... And also they just took on the consciousness of the heavy density of the hateful posins in the corrupt earth.... U Under stand why Jesus said to forgive .
