Alternatively, you can move the hand controls (throttle/clutch) inward by 1/2" to create enough space to mount the mirrors. I did not want to do this due to where my front camera is mounted, and because I didn't want to narrow the grip. Personal preference.

FYI if you have any mirror mount slippage you can cut a thin slit on the spacers you made. That will allow the mirror clamp to compress the spacer and give your clamp a stronger hold.

No special things needed, other than making a couple of the PVC spacers if you want to keep the bar ends. If not, remove the ends, knock the weight into the bar just enough so the expansion fitting will go all the way in, and tighten down.
@716Flat45 жыл бұрын
@@Tremonte it doesn't seem it matters. When I removed the bar ends, I was faced with a threaded hole and welded shut bar end under the weight. No way to thread the original bolt through due to size and no way to insert the adaptor as there is no hole other than the bolt threads :( oh well, at least it only cost $14 to figure out.

Great looking mirrors. If you were to make or buy bushings instead of the PVC, what size would they be? 22mm o.d. and (?)i.d. The width would be what the mirror clamp is. Would aluminium be the best option for that or keep it plastic? Thanks
@Tremonte7 жыл бұрын
22mm would be the OD. with an ID of 15-16mm. The 1/2" PVC was nearly a perfect fit on the ID and OD. Aluminum would work well, as long as it is a tight fit to the bar end weight. It needs to slightly compress to prevent the mirror from rotating in high wind. I wouldn't use anything more rigid than aluminum though.

@Tremonte6 жыл бұрын
+Vlad Iorgu the way the bar weights are made on this bike, you would have to hammer them into the handle bar to get enough clearance for the adapter to go in. Also, the added weight from them help keep the vibrations down and leaving them will also help protect the controls if you ever dropped the bike.

@Tremonte6 жыл бұрын
Once the weights are removed, they have to have new compression bushings installed to hold themselves in place. Here is a link to the replacement parts. You won't need the weight, or the end as long as you still have those, just the dampers and retaining rings. 92161A/B and 92173. After you have those, just do what I did in this video. www.kawasakipartshouse.com/oemparts/a/kaw/5853108287a86609a0cd8aa3/handlebar

All of that is mentioned in the video. Bolts are 6x65mm, and you should be able to use a hammer drill. It will take a lot of heat to use a regular allen key. They used way too much thread locker on these bar ends from the factory.

@@Tremonte Kawasaki bar ends are better that some (Hondas are worst cos the bar ends spin as you try to undo the screws)….But all that's required is leverage.... @@ukcarscene8695 My Z400 might be different...the weight is the part on the end. There is no insert according to the Kawasaki diagram. Just the hex bolt and the weight/slider on the end of the bar. The hex bolt is fastened directly to the bar, which seems to have a threaded end.
@amateurhobbyist4 жыл бұрын
@@Tremonte I was able to get them off this weekend and confirmed that the Z400 does not have bars that are hollow from the end. There is a cap welded on with a threaded bolt hole. So the bar ends, which are the weights on the Z400, are bolted directly to the end of the bars. Because of this I cannot use weighted bar end replacements that insert into a hollow tube. I need to purchase the kind that are meant to bolt to the end. Luckily, rhinomoto sell them for the CRG mirrors to mount to. Even though it didn't help me, I appreciate the video.
