A lot of things can cause bars to fail, but one that Jon Taffer sees time and time again is incompetent employees who have to go. Here are Bar Rescue Season 3’s most overdue firings.
#BarRescue #ParamountNetwork
Jon Taffer embarks on a cross-country tour of the worst drinking establishments in America. Bad drinks, wild staffs, and wasted owners conspire against him and his experts as they give failing businesses one last shot at success.

He says he can cook a hamburger. I would trust his ass with a salad. The juices are dripping into the grill, drying the burger. James earned some respect as he took charge a bit to salvage something out of the dumpster fire Kevin started in the kitchen. Also, I wonder what awards he earned. Not to play devil's advocate here, but if I worked for a bar for 8 months to a year and a half, I'd take the initiative to learn how to make some cocktails properly 🍸 Not to mention, I'd avoid sleeping with my co-workers. THAT was an underlying reason as to why they had to be gone, to prevent any sexual harassment lawsuits.

I saw some of the scene before that on a rerun- there’s a difference between pocketing money from the register and not separating tip money and sale cash (i.e. putting cash in the register but not ringing up a sale). Both cause a loss of profit but what the siblings were doing was mainly laziness. I will say, though, that the two bartenders should just be trained more and not be let go.
@philipandrews9938
@philipandrews9938 Жыл бұрын
@@zakkitzler4960 Except they clearly did pocket from the register How exactly does the amount of "No sale" make sense? Aren't they usually given the bar money and tip money at the same time? Based on the amount of drinks missing vs the amount of no sales it seems highly likely they also just rang up actual sales as no sales and then claimed it was tip money (so literal theft) The fact they are shown on camera not actually counting the money also supports its knowing theft, since the money isn't seperated in the draw, they don't keep track of the amount and don't even count it when taking it. They just quicky grab a stack of bills and walk away while hiding it (why be so secretive when taking it out if its theirs?)

She was trying to save face and pass the blame! Then sat and watched the 2 girls get fired knowing her and her brother are the real thieves! But look at their grandparents.. They obviously coddle and baby them. The woman didn’t even believe her grandchildren were stealing even after Taffer provided video evidence! She just straight up refused and sat in denial! The 2 kids were constantly ringing up no-sale (which they claimed were tips). Some of the firings could’ve been solved if the owner wasn’t being cheap and trained their staff properly, especially Jana and Melody. Overpouring doesn't make you a thief and it's disgusting to fire them without looking more into it. Also, the fact that Jana worked there for months without knowing how to make the most popular drinks says a lot about herself for not asking for help or learning herself, sure, but says even more about the owner for not make sure all of her bartenders can make a proper drink. Message to all business owners: train your staff. No excuses. It's better for your business in the long run.

ikr i felt so bad gor those girls. clearly they were not trained and i honestly feel that they had no bad intentions. they definetly just made the subconscious realization that more booze means more tips. and honestly if american servers and bartenders werent so dependent on tips this wouldnt ever be a problem. they would have no incentive overpour because they know they earn a stable income and they would no how to make all of the drinks because if they didnt they know thay they would just lose their jobs.

@ericnierstedt6242
@ericnierstedt6242 2 жыл бұрын
The truth is, most bosses just want to do what's easiest for them, and that includes training. They'll use words like 'incentive' and 'self-starter' because they don't want to spend time giving people the help they really need. And if there are problems, they'll just ignore it until they can't anymore because again, that's easier for them. I've worked in jobs where my bosses avoided helping me in my weak spots (and I asked to be shown how to improve) by having other people do those jobs instead. Then those people left, and we were back to square because they didn't do the work they should have. Bosses have to make sure everyone can do what's needed, but most just don't put in the time.

So why didn’t the son and daughter get fired? They were caught “stealing”. The other 2 bartenders didn’t know how to do their job. Of course they should’ve learned how to, but that means everyone who over pours at any bar, Jon should have them fired which he doesn’t. Plus the kids took money from the register and the daughter clearly walked away with money. Plus the son complains about having to work there and he didn’t care to have a job there. So why are the kids still there? Who cares if they’re family. Jon’s had it plenty of times when there’s bad family employees, they get let go. Also, I don’t know why the daughter started crying when hearing the employees mistakes of over pouring. They seemed to not know how to do their job which they should, but most on Bar Rescue don’t get fired over it. The daughter took money out of the register. Ken should’ve been the only one left since he didn’t steal in any way.
@3goofygoober
@3goofygoober 3 жыл бұрын
That entire episode had always bothered me because of how Jon went about the situation. But I think at some point in the episode, the brother and sister claimed "they didn't know" because they would put their tips in the register and kept ringing "no sale" whenever they did a transaction, so I guess Jon assumed that they weren't aware of stealing? Regardless, both of them should've gotten fired for doing that crap in the first place. Jon was so ass backwards in that episode XD
@KelliConan
@KelliConan 3 жыл бұрын
@@3goofygoober I totally agree. That episode was all around bad. Yeah it did make Jon look terrible. Also, if I were the only employee left that’s not family, I’d be looking for another job and leave ‘cause of the fact that the kids said they didn’t know what they were doing and so did the non family employee who didn’t know how to make the drinks that got fired. I’d try to secure another job ‘cause who knows if any other non family member will get canned ‘cause of something they don’t know they were doing wrong, find out they’re making a mistake and that it is costing the business money, then get fired all during the same conversation. That’s what this family/mom made it seem like. A big thing besides the kids probably stealing is that the son doesn’t even want to be working (well at least not working there). So he should’ve been fired for losing money for the business and not caring about it and it’s just a guaranteed paycheck for him as long the business is open. So he didn’t have to care ‘cause he knows his mom isn’t gonna fire him no matter what he does or says about the business.
@3goofygoober
@3goofygoober 3 жыл бұрын
@@KelliConan Yeah, the mother was defending her kids stealing all throughout the conversation when Jon was there with the grandfather. Caught them BOTH on camera pocketing money and the mom continued to stand by them claiming "my kids don't steal". And Jon totally ignored all of that by the time he decided to fire the un-trained employees with the exception of one. The kids don't respect their grandfather's money and the mother is enabling them to continue doing that slimy crap. I feel bad for the grandfather because you can see how tired and disappointed he is about the whole thing. I hope those bartenders found better jobs where they were actually trained by people who know how to operate a business and don't pocket tips visibly on camera 😂

The other guy I was working with just wanted to smash it all, as if creating a bunch of tiny glass shards to clean up off the floor is smart or easier and isn't dangerous. People are stupid man. If glass breaks in your ice bucket ice well whatever, you dump it all and start fresh. Breaking glass is the last thing you want to do.

I'd kill to go to some of these bars and just cut loose and be hired by some of these people so I could work and study. Only time theft I would do when working food service while in college. I'd get really far ahead on stocking the hell out of the dining areas (buffet style food I worked for a university dining hall) then sit at the bar area and study my notes when I could then I'd always set a clock every 5 minutes to go check on the dining room and refill it. You can sit on your butt a little bit every now and then, you just gotta be on top of things and be ahead of prep work. I'd even go so far as to prep for a few days worth of work.

I would hire her back, so long as she could improve her pouring, well before that second girl, who showed NO REMORSE in the screw up. As others said too, management is largely to blame for not teaching her. I've got 3 friends who professionally tend bars, and I definitely recall one getting taught from his manager on heavy handed pouring. Despite what Mr Taffer is saying, its not the equivalent of THEFT... and he's being melodramatic. You would NEVER find a jury, let alone DA, or a cop, who would charge a bar tender for stealing, from heavy handed pouring. Its inexperience 98% of the time, with the occasional crappy behavior of giving friends/dates free drinks the other 2%. The inexperience is still a terminating offense, but no different than ANY workplace fail that costs the company money.

wearing branded gear at work is not stealing, the fuck. and if you take it home, you're likely going to wash it then bring it back. where did this branded gear come from? was it laying around somewhere? for who, the costumers? The staff absolutely should help themselves to it and wear it. firing a great employee because they took a branded sweater home after wearing it during their shift because they were cold is absolutely ridiculous. but if you want to take your business strategies from people who drove themselves to bankruptcy, go right ahead.

I worked as a server/bartender for a couple of summers. Minimal training in the mixology department, but the thing that was really emphasized to me was portion control, and you never poured a drink without ringing it up. Even the liquers that people seldom ordered had a price for 1/4 oz measurements, and they were really on the ball about tracking their booze sales. Seeing the bartenders getting hammered for piss poor management makes me angry, because yes, they are overpouring and not ringing up drinks, but whose fault is that when they were probably never shown how easy it is to essentially pour money down the drain? There are some real scumbags that drink on the job on the company dime, and for those people I have no sympathy when they get the boot, but you can see the shock and guilt on some of these faces when they realize just how bad they are at measuring out their servings. Also, to that guy who was pissed about melting all the ice when he shattered a glass near the sink, I witnessed someone slice their tongue when they received a drink that had just a tiny little shard from the rim of a single rock glass that cracked. To be that cavalier with safety and sanitation is unacceptable. They're in the wrong line of work if they think their customers can accept that kind of risk for his negligence. They swallow that glass shard, it's a costly trip to the emergency room.

It was inside out intentionally the Bar Rescue/Paramount company does it in the same way you'll see soft drink cans or bottles with the logos covered in tape on Big Brother or Hell's Kitchen in the contestants downtime in the dorms. or Gatorade/Powerade bottles with the label missing. The logo on that shirt didn't pay for the marketing to be marketed on Bar Rescue so they hide them in a backwards way of tempting future brands to sponsor. Not all logos get covered but a lot do. or his shirt could've said something on it that Bar Rescue didn't feel comfortable broadcasting like those "F*** her right in the P*****" shirts.
