I think they truly had a great working relationship as Pres and VP. I know there's a joke that the VP doesn't do anything. But really, how much a VP does depends on how good their relationship with the president is. They spend their time in Congress, and can oversee all the glad handing and horse trading needed to get policies passed. I think Joe Biden was that kind of VP who helped get things done for Obama. And Obama made an impression on Biden. He WANTED to pick a woman as his running mate. And preferred a black woman for the job. I think he saw that important to the overall running of the country. And after having worked with Obama, who was noted as a legal scholar, he picked a lawyer. I think he thought that kind of insight was a good balance to his more emotional personality, where, if he could, he would be everyone's friend. I wonder if that got passed down to Harris in her pick. She's the more logical one with the legal background. I wonder if she picked Walz in part for his more emotional personality, where he tries to be everyone's dad.
