Try to find a picture of Michelle Obama pregnant. It’s fine with me they are adults and they are free to live their life’s as they want. But do not do evil things. Obama created 7 wars and deported more illegal aliens than any other president. In God we trust not in any man.

You mean you appreciate "women" that speak honestly about marriage... Had that been a man saying this about his wife or specifically Barrack saying this about Michelle all hell would've broke loose. Even in this interview he still has to keep quiet about whatever he may not like about her.

@@J03LM1 Haa a mind-reader? Like my comment states, "I appreciate PEOPLE who speak honestly about marriage". I've never been one to live in a distorted reality whereby everything is rainbows and sunshine all the time for rest of our lives, so to have adult men and women share light on the hardships of making a marriage work is greatly appreciated. Romance novels and rom-coms have made people think that relationships/marriages are smooth sailing when that's just not realistic. The wisdom and knowledge obtained (from real people with healthy relationship habits) allows one to see marriage for what it truly is and allows one to make conscious decisions in regards to it. Whatever trigger my comment may have caused you, hope you work on it and wish you well with that.

Fair - but if you read her book you learn about how selfish that man was. He wasn’t a team player in the marriage or with raising the kids. That’s just different. A lot of this talk about oh this is normal is about someone not carrying their burden. Barack was about Barack and his career. We all benefited from it. But that’s a sucky situation that she had to make the vast majority of adjustments around because he wasn’t a fully active father for years. And this behavior is acceptable because this is what is expected of men.

Michelle saying she couldnt stand him for 10 years is not the same as saying she hates him. This is real and I think this discussion will help others get real with their emotions and conversation in relationships. relationships are not complex we make it complex. it takes honesty, empathy and most of all respect to be at the core for it to work between oneself and between your spouse or partner. yes communication is key. but without respect theres no true relationship. the obamas respect is clear and this and love is what sets them a part from other presidents and other public figures. They respect themselves and appear to respect each other.

The problem is that this level of understanding is not applied to the avg couple. When a couple posts, most people scream "divorce" or "he/she is toxic" "you shouldn't forgive them" "they're a narcissist" etc. Obama was a very flawed/lacking husband and father early on in the marriage per Michelle's book. I actually like that he isn't perfect as it makes him human like the rest of us, but I'm just saying he gets a pass because he is an extraordinary and beloved figure, wheras others' would not.

I've never seen the entire interview so First Lady's statement alone and out of context seems very harsh especially knowing that the media is waiting for something to report negatively about their family. However, it appears to me that she was giving the women words of wisdom to hold on to their marriages and love unconditionally even during the rough seasons. Also the words like and love aren't the same. Just like you can love your children and not like their behaviors. President Obama mentioned how the children were priority numbers 1-4 so he probably felt like a 5th wheel in his own home. He was probably frustrated. This is a common mistake in most marriages. The bigger picture is that they survived it all. They held on for better and for worse. Most of all, their problems didn't overshadow and destroy his destiny.

She was the family work horse because Barack chased a life of politics. It was hard to work and take care of the family when your husband is not around all the time . And when he ran for President she was not 100% on board in the beginning of his run. And after eight years in the White House, they have a lot of catching up to do in a new life as seniors and adult children. No one’s life is easy . I have to think that the 10 years Michelle references is the decade Obama spent in politics at the national level: US Senator from 2005 - 2008, and President from 2009 - 2016. Let's face it, most people who want those jobs that badly have a very...shall we say "healthy" ego. That doesn't lend itself to being a supportive spouse. Also, when you get to politics at that level, you have a much bigger support staff; Michelle had to compete with campaign managers, strategists, advisors, etc for her husband's time. She may have signed off on his plans when he first proposed them, but I doubt you can know what it's really going to be like until you're well into it. I've always appreciated the Obamas' candor and sense of humor about their relationship, and I'm glad they were able to get through the rough patch with a better understanding and appreciation for one another.

I don't remember number 2 but another one up there was too much conflict. There’s plenty of people who love their spouse or parent etc but don’t like them. My husband is amazing but for a few years there he was a bit of a&&hole 😂 and I definitely wasn’t easy to be around either. Hopefully you just keep trying to work on improving yourself and your relationship together and the effort pays off. 17+ years on and we are genuinely like and love each other and ourselves. Good on the Obamas for being honest and relatable. ❤

You are right, they couldn't, especially Melania because I am sure she has an NDA. But I think they could make some show of it and probably rehearse what they would say. They did a Larry King interview back in the day that seemed fairly normal. The thing is that they have a different kind of marriage. Theirs is based on she getting what she wants out of it and him getting what he wants. For example Michele likely would not put up with a quarter of the things Trump has allegedly done , such as Stormy Daniela etc. So its not a similar marriage like Michele and Barack but it could last just as long and them even being open about tough times (without going into details), just to make a show of it.

Your husband never campaigned for congress or president, did he? I am sure even Melania would say she wasn't a fan of her husband's decision to run for president and didn't like her White House years. A lot of politician's wives would say the same thing. Al Gore's ex wife has admitted that the pressures of his campaign, his run, and his loss put too much stress on their marriage and contributed to their divorce. Even the children complain about the situation (Nancy Pelosi's daughter has complained). I don't think it's unique for her to feel this way considering the life he chose for his family.

Married the year we turned 24, neither of us knew what a thriving, healthy marriage looked like. We were both raised by people old enough to be our grandparents. Our parents weren't married to each other and very rarely interacted. Although we were raised to go to church, neither of us understood God's purpose for us individually, or as a couple. I eventually became a Christian and began to learn God's original intent was for a man & a woman to love each other unconditionally. I finally learned that my ex never stopped dating other women. It takes 2 people who are willing and committed in order to have a successful, happy marriage.
