John Howard= great man. Understands the world. If you Aussies don't appreciate him then send him to USA we will tgladly ake him in. Both countries need many more men like John Howard. I don't know about Austrialian domestic politics. I don't have the time to follow domestic politics worldwide. But on international politics John Howard is the man I like most from the leaders I've seen.

We voted John Howard out about two years ago. The main reason why George Bush and John Howard had so much in common was because both of their heads were filled with nothing but air. John Howard may have brought our ecenomy back up but he made so many decisions that would only benefit him and the Liberal Party. If only we had the same American law that a leader can only stay in for two terms, we had to put up with Howard's leadership for 11 years. I'm very glad that Barack Obama is now president.

No no, believe me as an Australian I love Barak Obama and think he could be the best politician America and possibly the world has ever seen. I am not alone in thinking this. Don't worry about little Johnny, we was routed out of office in November 2007. He even lost his own seat - something that has only ever happened one other time in Australian political history. Hahaha how we laughed, and how the champagne did flow that night...

I'm Australian, and I didn't know much about this story until now. I think it's fucking ridiculous for our PM to be butting into the domestic elections of America, or any foreign country for that matter. Our PM is on a public relations campaign... he wants to be an American Hero. He's dreamin'

@LeeOU812 - GST replaced the 1930's Wholesale Sales Tax (WST). Products always had a tax. It was unfair for Product's to be taxed, and not services. Not a big change...

Howard better enjoy his stay at Blair House this month in Washington, D.C. because it will most likely be the last time he's invited to stay on the U.S. taxpayer's dime. I doubt PRESIDENT Obama will be inviting him any time soon. Prime Minister Ruud is welcome to come anytime!

when the government borrows money and then spends that money, it passes through many different people's hands in different sectors of the economy, thereby stimulating it.

@Stephen19852009 This. Howard will be remembered for the economy and WorkChoices. Not the Iraq war, not about not saying sorry and certainly not about "boat people" no matter how persistently the ABC labours the point.

he didn't keep us out of the financial crisis, we're NOT part of Asia, interest rates today are at the same level as when Howard came to power in 1996...last time I looked when the ALP was last in office there wasn't a 9/11...Howard never had a rate decrease in this decade. govt debt is known across the world as a good thing...oh, and regarding the govt debt, it was paid down, not off, the rest of it is in govt bonds.

One thing about John Howard: he was a terrible diplomat. Whatever he thought about Obama, he should have kept it to himself. Didn't he think that he might have to start working with this guy in a years' time, whether he liked him or not? Ah, well. He's gone now.

Ummm.....I don't think Rudd was responsible for the first two of those...it's not overly educated to attribute globally hinging factors like petrol prices or interest rates to a change in govt - they only came down courtesy of economic collapse. But agreed Howard was not great. His achievements can be summed up as: i) gun control ii) GST (necessary if you like it or not) iii)elimination of public debt. Apart from that, most else was negative (esp. fourth term IR laws)

If it's true that Obama wanted to pull out before 2009, then Howard's comment was justified. Although, here we are in late 2010, so who knows?

Come on really, Iraq oil does not have the skilled labour to 'tap'. ExxonMobil has record profits because of it's vast empire of industry. And the price of Crude Oil only helps the company. Iraq is hardly a substantial income for them. But I do agree with you on one thing, the war has helped Bush's good old friends. Most noticeably from Boeing and Lockheed. Lets face it, the weapons industry has always been behind the US economy ever since Woodrow Wilson.

More highly advanced than whom? Than Australia? I'd rather be less 'advanced', as you call it, than be in a deep recession and governed by fools, although Kevin Rudd hasn't yet reached the total fool title.

Personally, I don't care much for Oil. How about moving to alternate energy suppliers? I'm a big advocate for Solar Power. I think all Americans, liberal or conservative are stuck in an 'oil' state of mind. Look beyond the carbon fuels that you all rely on. Perhaps another Oil crisis will open your eyes. On the political retrospective, I would of voted for Hillary Clinton, but since Obama won the nomination. I will be supporting McCain.

I fail to see how me not voting for Obama makes me a liar and a republican. I personally view Obama as a liability to the US, and I dislike him as a person and leader. I'm picking the lesser of two evils, and that's a fact. If the Democrats wanted to keep the white vote of the US, they would of kept Hillary as the president nomination. That's my opinion and point of view. Although I'm not a racist, I'll note that Black leaders have a bad record in running nations into the ground.

Okay, firstly. You need to come join the real world. Obama does not represent the majority of American citizens, that is fact. Now onto the issues. Lets face it, all candidates are saying what they want us to hear. When you look behind that you'll know that the 50% of our vote is for the candidate, 40% for the party and then the remaining 10% for the issues. Because on the issues they don't say they can do better, the issue will remain untouched by all candidates. Lets remove the illusion ok?

You're worse than Obama with his flip flops, I'm a liar, then I'm an idiot. Make your choice. However I supported Hillary on her issues. But yes, race is a factor in my voting, just as it is for African Americans. For you too call me a racist for voting for whom I feel will be a better president, it only makes you seen more ignorant and arrogant. And Bush may not be black, but how would you like a Robert Mugabe driving this nation? I'm also wondering, are you white or black?
