Hey man, there are loot caches in every mission with tier 5 lostech and weapons. They have a red light, instead of the regular blue one, and are always inside a small green hangar.

i had to reload the dropship mission. it was rough. then i did just like you said. stayed up and picked off the spawns around the initial area then joined the allies. that battlemaster after upgrades is one of the most insane mechs ive ever had. its one of my favorites.

It is winnable. Gotta let the NPCs do a lot of work and you fight at distance. Station yourself north of the last drop ship and let the timer run out.

Mission 7 (Shielded Withdraw) is where I dropped out of the stock play through. After 3 tries I got out with 3 mechs - knowing the following missions would just raise the tonnage but wanting to see the whole DLC I didn't bother publishing the video's and went to a data import play through (which I've finished all missions with zero losses and published). Glad to see it wasn't just me. Looking forward to the rest of this. Vanilla Longbow's suck even more than Jager's.

Lots of C Bills, buy mechs in the store...even if they end up as disposable assets. That and they might be cheaper and faster to update than a salvaged mech.

i absolutely loved this mission. i failed twice so i took the easy way out by reloading my save. Got it done the third time by basically staying on high ground and at range. lance was Northstar warhammer, archer, jager. got through first two waves okay, last wave my northstar took one shot to cockpit from the atlas and was down but with help of friends from the 14th made through the rest of mission managed to get through without losing major components (weapons) at least. I want to play it again to see if i can find the red stash supposedly somewhere around the third drop ship.

That mission i was lucky i had my nightstar ready, but i did lose two mechs and lost my right guass but over all it was not anyway near as bad as yours which in essense you had nothing left lol. Also from the get go i put double heatsinks in my King Crab which was also in that mission along with the jagga and warhammer the latter two were shrecked. The very last mission is also pretty hard. The others are a cake walk however, but then i also collected alot of mechs and didn't sell them off so had more in my arsenal. For the LGB-0W i had 2x SRM4's and 2x LRM15 maxed armor then added ammo. Never got to use it lol.

Longbow works perfectly for me. 8C Variant. 2x LSR20, 2xLSR5, 4 ML, Full armor, good heat management. It has a smaller reactor, though.

It is mostly not for the player character, though. If you draw too much attention, you get punished. And you can´t defend against a rush without arms. Highly recommended for a pilot with max. defense and missiles.

I had problems with the dropships mission, than I found out that they will send me reinforcements so I just stayed in the second line and preserved my lance as much as possible. If U will be aggressive so U will pay for it.

That protect the drop ships mission is brutal. Similarly I had two mechs destroyed and lost both pilots. For some reason my "allies" would not leave the area around the first drop ship so our lance was on its own. Very challenging but fun. Before you leave the current zone check the pilots for hire. I found some with good shielding potential.

The dropship one is brutal. I lost everyone. Wait untill you find a hero Longbow, it's very nice! Especially if you want to fire _all_ the missles. Oh, I should add that the mods work again. So everything has quirks again. That helps.

As you’ve just found out, Longbows are a complete waste of armament and ammunition. Plus the weapons are arm mounted and quite vulnerable. Best thing to do with it is sell it and mark it down to an expensive mistake

Wow, that last mission was brutal, though you broke your rule of using your friends as meat shields. Read up on the Longbow 0W. Makes some compromises to gain more speed.

This mission is tough, I've replayed it several times already and that last batch of mechs is hard to take down when all you have is mostly damaged already.

Except you don't have to take them down, you just need to wait. The point is to let the NPCs do the heavy lifting and manage your incoming damage throughout the mission

@Baradul, the trick with mech salvage is to Side torso both sides. the more of the mech you destroy, the less shares it takes to get them. granted, not useful for this campaign.

Playing through this without the mods i ended up losing two mechs and a pilot. Playing through with mods i didn't lose anyone but had some of the most intense fights. I loved this DLC because of the inability to ALWAYS field the mechs you want. Making do with the best you have is half the fun. I intend on going back and starting a play through before the RoR dlc and go into this then since the storylines are linked/related. I love this game lol

Yep, use the blue guys as shields to protect your mechs and pop out snd shoot and then hide again.

I repeated the mission four times until the damage I received to my mechs and the cost of repairs was acceptable. Certainly it is key to not pull so much aggro so that your allies also share their armor.

Best way to play the dropship defense is to hang back at spawn with long range mechs. I don't think the dropships can even be destroyed. I'm annoyed the dropships don't have their defensive arsenal. The modded ones have tons of PPCs.

That’s a fun mission and an easy mission. Look just grab your Carnifax, 2 Atlas k’s, and the Hero mauler. Make sure you have the armor and structure upgrades, damage upgrades, and and I like speed boost. Oh, oh you mean with the crappy mechs they give you? Oh, oh no, no, no, no, that’s data imports are for.

Look in your View Transmissions list. Sure, you cant do most of them. But at the bottom of the list you can get Goblin and his hero Phoenix Hawk. Bit of extra metal cant hurt..

I started a new career but am doing it from the beginning. Will be a lot of fun going through all the dlc and then finally getting to this one. I guess it isn't available for the campaign though, which is sad. Only thing I find odd so far is the fact that you can't get negotiation points if you aren't at least neutral to the faction so far as my new char goes. It is only level 3 (just started late tonight) so I hope that changes when he gets to level 4. You use a mod for the minimap to look like that? You made it through the mission, so that's all that matters.

Now I find this new DLC kind of bad made, new builds and new mech Longbow configuration are off place, the longbow provide nothing new and you can reproduce better build with other mech already in the game, and I did not find the added content worth of the price. Besides they seems to be bugged hitboxes and enemy spawn with damage with no fix to old point's like base double heatsink emch having double base cooling...

The Longbow was there to be competition to the Archer. 15t more, more armor, same speed, sameish armamanet. It is an over 200 year old design and the stalker just does it just so much better. But that is also a much newer design.

The Longbow was a fairly popular 'mech choice with tabletop Battletech and you'll probably see Bara run Longbows in the turn-based Battletech video game as well. They were fairly popular on tabletop because you could find the figurines on sale often, they're easy to paint and in a game, position it on top of a high hill and just rain down LRMs on to everyone who is running toward you. Tabletop rules makes the Longbow a pretty good choice, especially in games with tech restrictions and/or are playing a game where newer designs aren't available or you're not playing as one of the Great Houses and can't necessarily buy the newest and fanciest 'mechs. That doesn't translate as well to MechWarrior though, and I'm sure PGI included it in this DLC for nostalgia for people who came from tabletop BattleTech.

Yea, Baradul was left with a world of hurt too 😂 I been playing the DLC with my Mad-Bara2 loaded to the gill with clan stuff from clan invasion mod and just running it all solo. I was running with another mech in the Lance but I think they made the AI even more stupid. They don't want to fire much and I tell it to follow me and it goes off in another direction or stands behind a rock 200m away. If I tell it to go to a location near me, then it will, but it won't follow me. Easier to just run it solo. After seeing Baradul get messed over by no time to repair the mechs, I said heck eith a vanilla playthrough and just imported data.
