Shervin is a singer. He released this song at the beginning of Iranian protest. He got arrested 3 days later. He made this whole song based on the tweets from iranian tweeters and their meaning. The iranian people tweeted all these tweets about what's happening in iran. This is not just a song, we lived every sentence of the song and many others. This is the song of our pain and struggles. “Baraye in Persian means Because of” Because of dancing in the streets (“Dancing” is forbidden in Iran, for example: once, an old man was dancing in a park, police forced him to stop ,also women are not allowed to dance in public. it's forbidden in Islam for women to dance in front of men) Because of the fear of kissing (kissing and showing affection is also not allowed in public (even with your husband/wife)) Because of my sister, your sister, our sisters (Mahsa Amini was with his brother when they arrested her, her brother told others about that, there are many women were alone and no one knows about them even their family and some of them died, but their family forced to be quiet) Because of the change of rotten minds (superstitious and fundamentalist ideologies who rules the country by an old dictator) Because of embarrassment of Poverty (there was an interview with a man, who was trying too hard to find a job. He promised three years to his son to buy a bicycle for him but he couldn’t and the boy was disappointed with his father. Man in interview cried and told “i just want a job”) Because of longing for a normal life (In the last twenty years, the economic conditions periodically worsened and worsened every year. So now it is difficult to get the simplest necessities of life within everyone's reach. From buying meat and chicken to daily necessities, many families cannot afford it.) Because of the waste picker kid and his dreams (There are many children that instead of being at school , they are collecting recycling materials in the street to sell and get money. There was an interview with one of these kids, when the interviewer asked him “what do you wish for?” His response was "what is a “wish”?" he didn’t know about meaning of the “wish”) Because of the prescriptive economy (non professional economy policy and just try to control the prices by “Order” not proper plan and of course there are many corruptions) Because of the polluted air (Tehran is the most polluted city in the world, also Ahvaz, various industrial activities in Ahvaz (e.g., extraction and refining of oil and gas, petrochemical industries, and steel industry) cause the emission of contaminants to the environment . Specifically, the oil industry, traffic, dust storms, particles and ozone are problematic in Ahvaz. Ahvaz was once classed among the 10 cities with the worst air quality, based on the World Health Organization report in 2010, and has had episodes of acid rain) Because of ValiAsr street and the withered trees ("Valiasr" is the name of a very long street that is famous for its tall and beautiful trees which are both sides of this street, the trees now are dying due to their neglect and lack of care about the environment and mis-management, also some years ago they had cutting some of these trees.) Because of Piroz and his anticipated extinction (The persian cheetah (named Piroz) is one of the three cheetahs that were born under observation to avoid their species extinction. Two of them died because of the bad management and even imprisonment of the main guy who spent his whole life trying to save them. Piroz is the last known of his kind that only existing in Iran is an endangered species. Wildlife is in danger due to mis-management of environment and support rare animals and support illegal hunters) Because of the innocent forbidden dogs (It is generally forbidden to walk outside of the house with your dogs in Iran. Having dogs as pets as opposed to herd or guard dogs is somewhat illegal. If the police catch you walking your dog or going for a ride with your dog, they will take the dog away and kill them in incredibly cruel and inhumane ways. There are a lot of stray dogs outside of major cities because of mismanagement and municipalities are known to round them up and kill them, and even in cases when citizens build and fund shelters for stray mutts, the government kills those. ) Because of non-stop weeping Because of imagining the recurrence of this scene (The tweet was showing a photo of “Hamed Esmailion” reading the newspaper with his 9 years old daughter “Reera” who was killed in plane ps752 that was shot down by Islamic republic government. Reera along with her mother was one of the passengers. On 8 January 2020, the Boeing 737-800 flying from Tehran to Kyiv was shot down by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) shortly after takeoff killing all 176 passengers and crew aboard. And then Government said that was on shoulder of USA but someone filmed it, then they told "ok, it was a human mistake") Because of a smiling face Because of students For future (give hope to student to have a better life and better future) Because of this forced heaven (Their religion and heaven is forced on everyone, mandatory religious orders that all people living in Iran are made to obey regardless of what they believe, even when they are christian or jewish they have to wear hijab and are not allowed to eat outdoors during ramadan. Islamic regime has an ideology that their duty is to educate and guide people to follow the islamic rules, they say those rules help people to go to heaven after death! Willing to go to Heaven or not is not an optional choice. even students being forced to pray and read the Quran at school, basically people are forced to obey everything and forced to go to the Islamic heaven, there is not much of a choice for the freedom to practice a different religion openly or to refuse to wear the Hijab school uniform and not participate in the Quran and Arabic language course at school. ) Because of imprisoned elites (some elite who are in jail because they peacefully protest against wrong rules) Because of immigrant Afghan kids (There are many Afghan children who live in Iran without basic rights , some of them don’t have ID cards or are not able to go to school.) Because of all these unique "Because of"s (there are thousands of reasons but in this poem some of those mentioned) Because of the meaningless slogans (Islamic Republic Chants which doesn’t mean anything beside hate and they forced everyone even 7 years old children in school repeat them) Because of the collapse of flimsy houses (some building which was collapsed and some people were killed, due to poor design and construction with all permits which were issued as a result of corruption for example Metropole) Because of feeling the peace (Due to the many sanctions imposed on Iran over the past years, the economic situation has deteriorated and ordinary people have suffered severe problems. For this reason, the majority of people have not tasted peace for years.) Because of the sun rising after long nights Because of tranquilizer pills and insomnia Because of Man, Homeland, Development (Men and women is the same, all together should help to rebuild our homeland) Because of the girl who wished to be a boy (Some of girls wish for had been born boys so they wouldn't be shackled by this regime and don't be treated as second class citizens with essentially no rights , also refers to the "blue girl", who disguised herself as a boy (to pass the security) to be able to get into the stadium, to cheer her favorite football team, the blue team. It is forbidden for women to go to the stadium. one day, this "blue girl" burned herself because of all these harmful rules even in sport.) Because of Woman, Life, Freedom (There are no women's rights in Iran. For example: women do not have the right to divorce. The custody of a child over 6 years old and under 18 years old is with the child's father. Women cannot open bank accounts for their children. Even schools need only father’s permission. If your child needs hospitalization or surgery for some reason, the child's father or grandfather must give permission for the surgery, and the mother cannot do this. Women can get a passport for travel outside of Iran, only with permission of father (if single) or husband (if married). Women can not decide over their clothes. Women's hijab is mandatory in Iran, and if you see it, the moral police will deal with you, which is sometimes accompanied by violence, and there are examples like Mahsa Amini, who died. Men must not hear women’s voices or see their dance so that is forbidden for women to sing or dance in public. Until some time ago women were not allowed to enter stadiums and watch men's matches, and recently, due to the pressure of FIFA, a small number of them were allowed to attend some stadiums. An example of this match between Iran and Lebanon was in a stadium in Mashhad, where the police did not allow women to enter the stadium and threw tear gas at them, this was when they had purchased tickets online based on a previous announcement.) Because of FREEDOM Because of FREEDOM Because of FREEDOM

Good job in explaining the songs and it's meaning. However I do not agree with the interpretation of the "Because of feeling the peace " How do you relate this to the sanction? You can just say that this regime is in war with so many countries and even with his own people and people just want peace. You should edit that part because this is what regime says that all problems are due to sanction which is not true

Thank you so much for all the back story in one place. I had read bits and pieces of explanation other places, but this has all that and more that I didn’t know. Side note: Maybe the peace quote can simply be translated as “For wanting peace of mind”

I didn’t understand the German words but emotion grips me every time I hear this song of pain, suffering, and longing from my people in Iran, and when I realize we are not alone this time. Our pain is the collective pain this time and the world sees us, hears us, and shares in our suffering, hopes, and aspirations. برای #زن_زندگی_آزادی برای #ایران

@@lalehv2286 It doesn't matter what the government want to hear or not to hear. Democracy means we (the people) are the voice of our country. They will have to listen at the end bc the people stand with the revolution of iran and what it stands for. If they can ignore us we have to get louder
