Hey! Happy you enjoyed your stay on my beautiful island! Fun fact: Backing into parking spaces for most hotel, government and other general buildings is a requirement put in place for the main purpose that if there is an emergency, exiting the area promptly is more seamless and therefore quicker than having to reverse and maneuver, which can create congestion and confusion. Barbadians in general tend to adhere to this mode of parking even in spaces where it is not stipulated. We are, for the most part, orderly, awesome people!! Please return when we are over this Covid-19 nightmare!

Just started watching your synopsis of my island. Great content. I’m still in quarantine after 120 hours/5 days and still awaiting results. I came at the wrong time, after a spreader event. Keep the masses informed and entertained.

I thought the parking lot at 6:41 looked familiar. It's at Sheraton mall in Sergeants Village, one of the better shopping malls on the island.

It's a rule here in Barbados to back in to a parking space in case of an emergency can just drive out
@CamWoodsum13 жыл бұрын
Interesting. It's an enforced rule or just a best practice? I appreciate the insight! 😎 I've been thinking about this since I arrived
@twinkitten13 жыл бұрын
Cam Woodsum I would say both best practice and enforced (e.g.work parking spaces and some public parking spots) we have a BIG vehicle culture here but they are slowly trying to improve this by introducing cycling paths, there is currently a rail to trail project in the works which is turning the old train line which use to run here in the 1800s into a cycling path..also you can check out the only skate park here at the gymnasium in wildey just around the corner from Sheraton...🙂
@CamWoodsum13 жыл бұрын
Right on. I appreciate all of the info and the backstory! The main roads definitely don't feel bike friendly right now but great that there are some projects in the works.

@@CamWoodsum1 Usually the persons who drive in are tourist or those who can't drive well. But as stated in the comment above it helps in an emergency and it's also safer than backing out into traffic.

Was that Sheraton Mall? I am Bajan but probably as familiar with the island as you are as I grew up in NY and California. LOL! My cousins still help me with my money 💰 when I go to Barbados 🇧🇧 because I would give a US $20 for something and walk away leaving my change behind. I forget its doubled. The cashiers have to remind me.

@v.t.87523 жыл бұрын
@@CamWoodsum1 I was shocked that you drove since the steering is on the other side. I mix everything up. I turn on the indicator and then windshield wipers come on. Bajans are used to folks driving on the wrong side. LOL

how did you get your test results? (email or phone) did you pay for your test or did it free? and how long did it take for you to get your second results?
@CamWoodsum13 жыл бұрын
I did the free government one and they called my hotel and sent the test results to me via email. It took 48 hours to get the test results but my understanding is that the results usually come back in ~24 hours. Sometimes in 36-48 hours.
