I used to go on holiday with Joan Collins, Roger Moore and her, to Zante every October. We invented a game called "Pigs at the Trough" where we'd fill several buckets with moules frites and you had to eat as many as possible without using your hands. She almost always won. She was also a dab hand at installing double glazing, you couldn't keep her away from an uninsulated window, never happier than measuring it up and giving you a quote.

I remember a television interview with her in the 1960s. The interviewer asked her if class distinctions were lessening. She replied, 'Yes, of course they have, otherwise I wouldn't be sitting here talking to someone like you. ' Probably too non PC for some of the extra sensitive souls around these days. And thank goodness for that.

She's said that women should be 'pure' but men can go around having sex with whomever they want. So who are these men having sex with? Other men? Or lower class women who she sees as sub-human? She has also said that if a man cheats on a woman, it's her own fault, not his. I've seen very faithful wives get cheated on and I know this is not the case. I agree with purity, and no sex until marriage for both genders. Barbara is an idiot for only preaching purity for women.

When you look back at photos and videos of people who live close to a century or more, they always seem younger or more energetic than their age would indicate through out their lives. Dame Cartland certainly fits the bill. I believe her mother had only recently passed away when this was filmed at the age of 99. Raine didn’t live quite as long as her mother and grandmother.
