This lady is absolutely class. Brian Clough often talked about her. A lot of football fans from that era are quick to attribute his success to his partnership with Peter Taylor. She must have been the real driving force behind Brian Clough’s achievements.

Brian was first and foremost a family man. His family always came first,never cheated on his wife,and had his kids in the dugout with him.....that is more to his credit than all the honours he received in the game....

What a great interview, Barbara obviously very proud of Brian's achievements in the game. Interesting also to learn of the different facets of his life. A good man, a great manager and still very much missed. Amazed at his friendship with Boycott bearing in mind the great gulf between them politically. Thanks so much for this video.

Barbara Clough what a lady! This is how we used to make real women in England. She puts the modern day women's movement brigade to shame. She is highly articulate, intelligent and talks common sense. It is because we no longer have women like this that we have so many social problems. She is the perfect wife for any husband. You can imagine she ruled the home.

Remarkable video, it's hard to believe this lady was married to such an unusual man. Very nice to watch.
@dancespav2 жыл бұрын
Maybe she's the unusual one. But I get the sentiment. I think most men these days are unusual...not speaking their mind, toeing the line, saying what we think people want to hear. There's nothing unusual about a man of Clough ilk who says it how it is and is mischievous with it.
@scroolewse77333 жыл бұрын
Lot to be said for women from that era.....absolute class...in one word...'ladylike' Not like the foul mouthed chavvy bints you get since the 90s they act more like men than women.....I'm sorry to say I've got one as a missus....

And they walk like rugby players. Effeminate manners are a thing of the past, sadly. It was a time of skirts and dresses and not the jock straps, metaphorically speaking of today's generation. Hardly harsh. A euphemism really.

Brian Clough's legacy was taking an also-ran second division team to European champions in three years, never been done before or since. He then did it again one year later to prove it was no fluke. Notts. Forest are still to this day, the smallest club, which have ever won the European cup. Until somebody repeats that Cloughie has a special place in the hearts of all football fans.

England would definitely have won a trophy under Clough. Leeds sacked him after 44 days then looked what happened at Forest. First division champions. Two European cups and three League cups. You missed out big time Leeds. Only Sir Alex came close to the GREAT man.

With Clough's abrasive approach at Leeds he later admitted he should have done things in a different way.Leeds didn't miss out at all because it never worked and sadly that was down to Brian himself.Talking about getting peoples backs up !

I was behind the desk in the university library when he was given a honorary degree not long before he died, you could see he was the great man everyone loved, bur he was old, frail; poorly……. His voice still echoed and how he greeted the staff was just standard to him, second nature hut the ladies he chatted with won’t ever forget the moment like it was yesterday such was his presence
