Barbara Walters was a trailblazer in journalism, known for her compelling interviews and groundbreaking reporting. But behind the camera, she led a life filled with complexities and nuances that many are unaware of. We start by exploring her romantic relationships, including her affair with U.S. Senator Edward Brooke, which she kept a secret for decades. New rumors also surface about a possible affair with comedian Richard Pryor, adding another layer of intrigue to her already captivating life story.
We then turn to her memoir, "Audition," where Walters opens up about her difficult upbringing and the behind-the-scenes drama on "The View." From her challenging relationship with her parents and sister to the ethical dilemmas she faced with co-host Star Jones, Walters' memoir is a treasure trove of revelations.
But that's not all. We also look at the lesser-known aspects of her life, such as her meticulous preparation for interviews, her philanthropic efforts, and her love for the arts. Walters was not just a journalist; she was a complex individual with a multifaceted life. She faced private struggles too, including the challenges of balancing a high-profile career with motherhood.
Finally, we discuss her poignant last words, recently revealed in an excerpt from her forthcoming biography. These words serve as a fitting epitaph for a woman who shattered glass ceilings and lived life on her own terms. Join us as we uncover the secrets and triumphs that shaped the woman who shaped television news.

The video snippet she had in the first year or years of The View about women from different backgrounds and viewpoints...now all must be of one view. If they dare go beyond that, they are put back in their place. I am not sure if she would have been aware of how different unless she was actually sitting there as they chide anyone different than them. It is different when you hear about something than when you are sitting in the middle of it and experience it real time.

True, however, Whitney Houston was, still is the most amazing singer, I'd ever heard, performed countless concerts, music videos, sold millions upon millions of albums and yet Houstons personal life was very exploited, by journalists such as Barbara Walters. Dolly Parton, also a great performer etc yet her personal life was exploited by the media, by journalists such as Walters and without discussing the personal lives of these celebrities and so on, Walters as well as other journalists would have had much of an interview with anyone they interviewed yet because they're journalists, while responsible journalism these days is few and far in between, why are they able to make their fortunes, fame, off the backs, the personal lives through the struggles and triumphs of all they exploit but these journalists or whomever, deserves their privacy. How on earth is that even remotely fair? I've always had respect for Barbara Walters and a few other but the door swings both ways.

She was a great interviewer and while she kept her subject on track during the interview she did it smoothly as if they were in charge. Great method. Loved it when she brought a tear even for the most stoic. And I agree her personal life was just that… personal.

@@michellesmith4570unfortunately the public demands all the dirty details. I never felt Walters exploited anyone. She dug deep. Although I do hate questions that start with, “Do recall what feelings you had when ….. “ and of course that was often when the tears come. That I do not like in any interview.

But obviously, her relationship with her child wasn't interesting enough to write a tell-all memoir about. But, her admitted and unremorseful affair with the very married Sen. Edward Brooke WAS. Her daughter was not the focal point of her book, her affair(s) were. It's what SHE wanted, her fans wanted and the public wanted. Her daughter battled alcohol and drug addiction and Walters stated many times she wished she'd have focused more on being a mother than on her career.

I pointed this out last year when Walters died. A so-called "feminist icon", she betrayed the feminist "sisterhood" by unapologetically having a secret and decades long affair with a married man. She in turn, disrespected another woman by doing so - Sen. Brooke's WIFE. She wanted a happy marriage, but was an adulteress who was also thrice divorced, miscarried and died in near seclusion, suffering from dementia. Never mess with Karma.
@carolchristiansen635
@carolchristiansen635 8 ай бұрын
Well, the lady was 93 years old. And she’s dead. So any affairs that she had can’t be proven. Because if people she had the affair would be dead now, too. But the joy of smearing, her name must be delightful.
@marishamayer204
@marishamayer204 8 ай бұрын
It's not "smearing" if she admitted to having an affair. And she DID admit about having one with Sen. Edward Brooke, a married father. It may not be "proven" she had an affair with Pryor, but the affair with Brooke was. She kept a tight lip on her stepping out on her own husbands, so it can't be "proven" whether or not she was married/cheated on her husband during her affair with the Senator - but she had been labeled an adulteress in her previous marriages.
