Unless I missed it a good note is pick up every barb helmet you see, quite often you will find a 2 socket version somewhere along the way and making a lore from this is usually better, just chose the best you have at the moment of making a lore.

I like how he recommends using a Hel rune to remove runes off of a 3 socketed Flail 🤣 Just buy some extra while in Act 2, you can't even get a Hel dropped in Normal difficulty.

Another option to get your second spirit earlier is to farm nm countess for an additional ral and amn rune each and use the cube recipe with a perfect amethyst. As long as you got the second crystal sword from the normal cows as well, the cube recipe has a 50/50 chance to give it 4os

@@froghermit9852 its 50% chance. each socket got a chance of (1/ max number of sockets possible on the weapon). if you rolled a socket higher than the possible number of sockets due to the item inner level, then you get the max number of sockets possible for your item's level. crystal sword max sockets = 6 normal cows crystal sword max sockets (ilvl restriction) = 4 meaning your chance for each socket is 1/6, and if you roll 4 or higher, you get 4 sockets. and that's why its a 50% chance, given that you use a sword from the normal cow level.

I took two shots and I get - 2 x (Ral + Amn + perfect Amethyst + pure white Crystal Sword from Cow Lvl) = 2 x Crystal Sword with 2 sockets. A 50% chance means that out of two shots, one will be successful. But not so in this case. Your formula is incorrect and wasted my runes.

I really appreciate these breakdowns for a noob on this game. Interesting thing with the rune stone mods. I did a 3 socket flail as you advised with Malice and that hit for 6-79. I stopped trying to get another one from Fara and settled for a 2 socket flail with a 50% damage on undead buff but put in TalEth just to see what would turn up. In armor it is called Stealth, but in the flail it became Gemmed Flail and it added -25% target defense as well as 75 poison damage over 5 seconds. SO that flail hits for 68 - 111. I mean it was interesting. But I don't know where a list of every permutation exists for these rune combos. Just passing it along.

@@ManOfManyChoiseCorral a group of mobs together by running around. Cast Battle Cry on them, then spam War Cry. As your mana gets to 30% or so, pop a Greater/Superior Mana Potion and KEEP SPAMMING War Cry. Your goal is to spend the mana faster than the potion will fill you up, because the potion would severely overflow your tiny mana pool. Do that in Normal Cows, get your Crystal Sword base, Larzuk it, farm Countess for Tal Thul Ort Ann and make Spirit.

kinda sad to see that the changes to barb, made him into the 6th "caster" spec. i really wish they would give concentration a small aoe splash. that it is like the "hammer of the ancients skill" from d3 i would fully play a barb. the fantasy of a barbarian is so cool in the diablo universe. but all these caster builds are ... not my thing. i love melee builds but i dont like frenzy nor whirlwind. i had in 2002 my HC barb die to lag at lvl 97. i am traumatized. blizz give me concentration with aoe so i can do some silly 2handed build with that.

How to level your barbarian: Create a Sorc or Paladin, play those through to Hell Baal and MF with them. Once you got enaugh currency/items to equip a Barb, ask someone nicely if they can rush your Barb. Create a Barb. Get him Rushed. Equip him. There you go.

My problem with this build is I dont have enough mana to do anything. The war cry drains everything so fast and the damage isn't even that good. Can't get past the last act on normal now after respec.

Oh I apologise, it's to do with enemy chance to hit. While you're running their chance to hit is 100% or something but while walking the normal formulae apply.

Get something with health replenish. +5 I just realized the same thing. I have a +3 for now. I just switch my weapons in and out between battles.

My problem: I have no effective +Mana items. My Mana total is 55, which is useless. I ended up getting 2 good wands (each over +60 mana). I also found a few other items to help. Got over 200. Mowing the cows was fun (multiple times). I now have the "Spirit" crystal sword setup. Wow, it's nice!

Brand new player here. I found a Crude Crystal Sword in the cow level. Should I use this to turn into the quest for the 4 sockets or wait for just the crystal sword to drop?

If you use a lower quality item it reverts the item to its lvl 1 base.. meaning that the sword will only receive 3 sockets like if it was found in normal difficulty.. that's also if you use the cube recipie to make it a normal quality item as well

yeah not having nearly any kind of aoe makes places like the third act and the bloody flyer enemies a nightmare to handle and the little buggers are experts at swarming you with numbers, so far my only death was to them 😂

Starting as barb is such a sorry state of affairs. Best advice I have is to farm early game gear on a different character and then gear up your barb to make it less painful.

The thing with Diablo 1 and 2 is they were awesome games. 2 is a lot more of a difficult and customizable game. These games are worse in terms of graphics. If that don't bother you go ahead and get 2. It's a damn good game, a lot of the games from that time period are far better than games coming out today. If you are more into the better graphics and fast moving games this one sucks. I can't stand a lot of games out today but they do look awesome. Those rune words make this game very special. I like the skill tree games used to use also. Overall I'd say get it and play, but it's your money man.

Speaking of crystal swords: swords from late act 4 and act 5 till Worldstone keep will also have 4 sockets from Larzuk. And you can also just grab a broad sword after act 4 and it's all, they can't have more than 4 sockets.

Not all of them, it depends on the monster level. A champion might have lv+1 and so your sword will have too many sockets, or a monster might have a different level than the "area level" implies, this is only a feature of normal difficulty

@@Rotblattchinchilla12 well, I would agree. But still, just a reminder, Chaos Sanctuary and at least half of act V is also a place. So if you see a common sword, just get it. Btw, champions and elites can't drop white item so it's only minions to be careful of

But in my games online, offline, Ladder, I'm not receiving XP from my cow level just some damn fine gear. too bad my sorc won't use any of it because it's being set aside for other builds. You should edit to the guide where to shop for the bone shield base, it's neither in the written guide nor in the video. You just mention "shop for a 2 socketed bone shield".

Shopping for items is always in either Act 1 or Act 2 on normal difficulty. After Act 2 in normal the shops no longer sell non-magical socketed items.

Respectfully, this build guide advice needs updating. The re-spec at lvl 31 is a terrible idea as you’ve not shown people how to address the Mana cost of War Cry. The build goes from easily mowing down mobs with Frenzy/DS to being out of Mana instantly without some key gear including the Insight on your Merc and double Spirits. I wouldn’t recommend re-speccing until you at least have that otherwise it’s a massive stall in progression while you figure out Mana management.

I can confirm after a very frustrating night that the crystal swords from the cow level are NOT guaranteed to roll 4 sockets. I've gotten nothing but 6 sockets using the socket quest.

No no no no no. People, especially beginners, who want to play barbs want to do the physical damage. This way of playing amounts to little fun in my opinion. Go for things like duel wielding “honor” runeword axes in normal. Duel wielding crescent moon runeword axes at nm.. and then dual “death” runewords at end of nm and into hell. When you hit endgame work your way into getting grief runeword and or last wish runewords in swords and change your mastery to swords after the axes. Once you’ve done all that if you really want to switch into being a singer barb or any other niche barb builds then I would switch. I can’t imagine starting from scratch with the build you have described and actually enjoying it

Tip 2: only do group play, because your character is useless for leveling

Not useless but slow. As someone who generally only does solo except when going for torches, Barb has a good health pool(not as tanky as a Pal but what class is?) and can be fun as long as you aren't expecting zoomzoom levels.

The earpy advice was not that great. A lot of wasted skill points. Also malice drains life. Unless you have wicked ll or a couple angelic rings it is not worth using. Just put 3 orts and 3 rals in tl2 flails. You will be better off

Nah man pots are cheap and belts that have +5 life regen are not that rare amd malice is really powerful.. you're gonna be chugging pots anyway and with barbs lifepool the effect is not that severe..

bro i'm sorry to inform u but your d3 builds where always inaccurate like for example u learned that crusader uses travelers set like 3 seasons late, u never talked about d3 lag produced by area dmg and how the game is real played and so on. But let's get back to d2 a game u clearly have 0 clue about it (maybe u played a little in your childhood but clearly not enough to know the real game) and u recite some stuff from that website, i suggest u try this build yourself maybe on HC where real players play and see how far u go with it, and after that try level a paladin or a sorc or a necro see how fast it can farm a sigon set and some angelics and post a real leveling guide for barb have in mind d2 is not a new game is 20 years old+ battlenet was invented along with diablo 1, ppl thrust u and u rec like worst possible way to make a barb on battlenet in 20+ years old game, learn to play the real game pls.
