I feel like this would have been harder if the Barb camps were every other tile instead because the Barb camps couldn't even spawn units until turn 30, so it was mostly just barbarian scouts defending them.

finishing the boosted techs is specific to that great person (and a couple of others, IIRC). It's not a general mechanic.

It was a mistake on my part, I didn't read the whole ability. The thing that confused me was getting the free technology, apparently after turn 50 you can get a free technology from goody huts. I didn't know that I thought you could only get boost. My bad reading helps, thanks for telling me

The scientist at 5:55 specificly says that if you have the boost already it will unlock the technology for free, other scientist that give tech boosts which you already have will just end up doing nothing

In regards to getting celestial nav without sailing/astrology via great scientist, that happens quite a bit actually. Happened for me a number of times when I'm fully landlocked and actually quite handy a couple times in highlands maps where you want harbors for trade routes (cities with lakes but no rivers) but don't care to waste time on sailing/astrology since your civ doesn't care about a religion and you don't have fishing resources. Definitely seen it a few times in CPL teamers but it's definitely far less common in singleplayer. I don't know if there's a way to abuse it deliberately but it's a useful trick to be aware of instead of wasting 3 turns minimum on a tech you might not need that much. Really enjoyed this one, these settings are busted with a number of civs like Hammurabi or Caesar too. Always a good day with Ra in my sub box!

You get 2 extra combat strength for every adjacent unit after researching military tradition. What you can do is build a couple of cheap units like warriors to just go behind your man at arms to buf them for +6 or +8. I'm a big fan of starcraft

If I ever play barbarian clan mode it feels like this. I always go with Qin. There are many times were very high level barbs walk into my city and could literally wipe me out...instead I rub my hands together and reap the rewards.

@@Ra1_ Just played yesterday and it was miserable. Raging barbs, zombies, deity+ bots. For 2 whole eras every turn spawns 2-3 zombies right on top of my district cluster and all my magnus internals trade routes out of all places, no one was dying there for 50+ turns except workers and traders. I mean yeah barbarossa was a bad choice there but i thought id hang up untill factories with free +10 barbs card (bbg makes it +10). Never had a worse game honestly
