Hey it works. I used Barbasol and safety razor for almost two years. I like putting the can in warm to hot water to heat it up so it doesn't go cold on your face. Wallymart sells a shave oil Shave Secret that could help add slickness to your canned goo. It's also incredibly cheap if you can avoid the rabbit hole of brushes, razors, blades, soaps and creams.

I just ordered a 1955 Gillette flare tip and it's pretty grungy. No rust just a nice patina. Looks like it'll clean up nicely. Great video love the Barbasol!

Look at all that Barbasol! I actually found Barbasol body wash at one of my local stores, the store is called Big Lots. It came in a large pump bottle, smells just like original Barbasol too! Unfortunately it cannot be purchased through website and then shipped. It is an in store only purchase :( After I used it, it was kinda weird smelling like Barbasol lol I felt like I washed up using shave cream lol

My dad used a safety razor while back agoo.. now he use gillete fusion saying it shaves better. He is using the same razor for like 6 months

I'm that mechanical engineer who designs automation. It definitely takes a while to get good at focusing on each individual process, and then shift gears to make it all work together. I would be interested to see how the old gillette TTO and adjustables were assembled. I'm sure tolerances could be held tighter today with all the machine vision and electric actuators that we are using now.

Very nice. I started shaving in 1991 and back then, all we had was Barbasol, Gillette Foamy (it sucked) and Edge Pro gel which caused us with sensitive skin to have issues. That's kindly the theme I am going with for tomorrow's shave.

I recently discovered a product called Air shave buy a company called Tend Skin. I love it! The stuff is so slick on your skin it's nearly nick proof. I use a Rockwell 6s and sometimes a Merkur Futur. Great cut free shave.

Man this video gave me some hope. My 1962 slim adjustable and while I adore the razor it gives me the most irritating shaves. Even on a 3 I'll get tiny knicks and bits of razor burn. Maybe I need to turn up the setting and use even less pressure.

Try a really sharp blade like a Feather with the razor set on 1 or 2. Mild razors & sharp blades make a good combo for most.

'Nuthin wrong at all with Barbasol - I've got a can on the shelf in the Shave Lab right now & reach for it when I'm in a hurry.. Same model razors shaving differently? I have several Super Speeds, and the 1947 seems to give a little closer first pass shave. The '52, '53 and 2 unmarked (UFO's) all shave the same. Shave with my '47 Super Speed & You'll bury that old 195 in the back of your bathroom drawer to be forever forgotten. Hope to catch your live Cemetery Walk tomorrow - Walk 'n shave?

I don't think it's sacrilegious to use Barbasol with a safety razor at all. Most men were using shave foam with safety razors until the Trac II was invented. I regularly use Duke Cannon aloe shave gel from a can with my R89.

Hols how have you been?) Good shave, I recommend you try Gillette Fusion Proglide shaving gel leaves a very good feeling and excellent protection, 6.0 oz for 5 bucks seems reasonable. I do not usually use it frequently since I do not consider it for a classic shave but it is good for travel or you think brother greetings.

Elitism is prevalent in contemporary wet shaving culture, or whatever you will call it when men (and some women) collect vintage razors, brushes, soaps, creams and after shave products and discuss them online. And elitism leads to nowhere. If Barbasol works for somebody, who am I to tell that person that he/she should get an effing brush and some flaming genuine shaving soap and throw that aerosol can into the trash because it's garbage? When my father retired, he started to shave wet again, after decades with a Philishave, and he used Palmolive canned foam. My mother disliked the rust rings the cans left on the counter and she got him a shaving kit with a stand for a brush and a razor, a brush, a wooden bowl and a puck of soap. He loved the kit and the smell of the soap, which was TOBS Sandalwood. Unfortunately, the cradle of the stand did not work for his Mach 3 razor, it was conceived with T-shaped safety razors on mind.
