Good luck There used to a lot of barbel in that stretch but I think the otters decimated the population. I will be great to see you catch one!

Good luck on Great Ouse barbel. Location is absolutely everything. You may only have 2 or 3 fishing for a few miles of river so good luck. Keep moving and hunting you’ll get your reward. 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Lovely film, nicely done. I lived 200yds from `Abbey No1` back in the `80`s so fished that stretch regularly before its was really targeted by others. Barbel were largely an `unknown` species back then along there but I managed a few thankfully! Several hotspots in and around Newport Pagnell, and once you`ve found them you`ll not go far wrong.

Thank you for your nice comment I'm hoping the rain keeps coming to bring the water levels up, I might go clubbing over the Christmas and New year but if the water levels keep going up I might try barbeling

Hi Mark ye I think this cold snap has put a stop to the barbeling I'm going chubing over the Christmas and new year Fingers crossed for a chub

@@FishingwithMrW A couple of friends used to fish around there for the chub and barbel but have moved on as the otters have decimated it, there is still the odd fish but very hard going now.

Just stumbled on your video, like the un-cut story as it always takes a while to know a new water. I'm just about to embark on a Great Ouse barbel quest on Vauxhall & SDAA waters and know I'll be looking at a few blanks on the way. Did you get one in the end?

Where you caught the chub from in a previous session looked good. Nice bit of cover for em. I would be looking for flow plus cover when rivers low.. stick at it mate looking forward to next one 🤞👍

The River Ouse runs through York. The river you were fishing is the Great Ouse.

This river used to be fabulous for barbel. Not anymore sadly and we all know why.

Hi Chris yeah I think your right. I've now left the club that had the river so I'm not going to be able to finish the video by catching a barbel from the river ouse which is a shame

@@FishingwithMrW 😪 Sad state of affairs. There are some in there, but my god, you have to put some hours in. Well do for trying though. The EA continue to waste thousands of £s in there effort to restock the river with small immature fish, that are easily predated on, instead of just a few hundred young fertile fish.
