Lovely video. I've never caught barbel, I live in Scotland. I've caught salmon, seatrout, chub etc but no barbel. I'll have to try it, I'm getting to an age where being static seems better. Loved it, then again all your videos are spot on.

I think that pound to pound nothing beats a proper river carp. Barbels for sure are a challenge (especially big ones like the last one WOW!) but a carp of the same weight...fiuuuu....that's a real challenge, especially if you are not doing any species/size targeting fishing

Would love to catch a river Carp! In our area they're fairly elusive and take a lot of time and effort if you want to seriously target them!

What size feeder do you use on heavy rivers mate?
@senna42814 жыл бұрын
Hi looking at getting into sea fishing mainly of boat North Sea but some beach or pier fishing maybe. Advice need could tell me what type and make of reel should I go for. Cost is not a issue £500/£1000 but I would like to have one reel cover that all a one of perches.

Hi mate, would you be looking for a fixed spool or multiplier reel?

Really enjoyed your video Steve and a good result in less than perfect conditions, well done. Was this on the tidal stretch? I had four days on the Trent last July, a couple of miles upstream of Newark, and did reasonably well for barbel.

I have never used feeders, seems counter productive?? Loading the column with food? Here in Montana you can catch as many barbel as you want with just a worm and a weight heavy enough to keep it on the bottom. Good fight for sure. Clear fast river. You can see the barbel like a carpet on the bottom. Easiest fish to catch. NormLly we catch them on accident fishing for lake or Bull trout. Are they tough to catch over there? Do the feeders really work?
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV2 жыл бұрын
The feeders work a treat mate! They love getting plenty of food, especially during the right conditions. 😊

why do people use bites alarms for river fishing takes the heart out of watching the rod tip
@FromTheWatersEdgeTV4 жыл бұрын
chris thomas we fished for 20+ hours and all through the night. It wouldn’t have been possible to sit and watch the tip for that long. If we’d just fished a day session then bite alarms wouldn’t have been necessary.
