I have been having chronic back pain for 3 years. Every day. Can’t sleep at night. I tried this deadlift last week and after the first time, 50% of my pain is gone. I haven’t felt this good in 3 years! Thank you so much for posting this video!!

Just tried this out today. I've had lower back/Si pain for about 3 months now. I've been core strengthening, stretching, decompressing and modifying my workouts to deal with it. Those thing definitely help but this has made my back feel better after one workout. It's been about 5 hours since the workout and my back hasn't felt this good since I injured it. Craziness. Thank you so much.

Can you please tell me what were your symptoms and type of pain ( when walking , bending or coming up from being bent ) before you got better by this exercise

Wish this showed up in my feed last year! I've had a few lower back injuries and always have pain after very light weight deadlifts. Tried this out today and my back already feels looser and more relaxed.
@mattzilla3315 жыл бұрын
Brilliant. I think ppl either don't know or forget that the negative phase builds muscle and strength as well. So when you rush it or outright drop the bar you're basically missing half the lift.

is it a good mouvment for build muscle ? and what rep range for this purpose ?

Going to give these a shot. Got back into lifting 2-3 months ago. Was doing 315 for sets of 5. After 2nd set, I couldnt move the weight. Went down to 275, still couldnt get it off the ground. Low back, barely above tailbone, feels insanely tight. It's hard to bend over right now.

Stupid question on programming....how are you counting the reps? Is a set of "2" a full DL and then 2 partials? One a full and one partial?
@BarbellLogic Жыл бұрын
One rep is the bar going from the floor back down to the floor with the reps between. Typically, will take breaks between reps (meaning, you don't really do more than 1 rep without a break).

What do you guys do for rehabbing radiculopathy of the neck?
@willmorris41805 жыл бұрын
As much as it seems like a total cop out, the answer to this question, as posed, is, “It depends.” The exercise selections, modifications made to core exercises, and multiple other variables will be dependent on that client’s individual presentation, level of the radiculopathy, evidence that radiculopathy is the ACTUAL most likely diagnosis, etc.

Will this cure back muscle sprains/strains caused by deadlifting...I injured my back 6 weeks ago (muscular, no numbness or pain shooting down the leg) but unable to heal it using starr protocol(high reps low weight)..my back is always very tight

What would warm up sets for these look like using let’s say a 185 work set weight? Great video, came at perfect time for my most recent lifting injury. Thanks!
@willmorris41805 жыл бұрын
95 x 3, 135 x 3, 160 x 2, 185 x 2 reps x 5-7 sets

I appreciate the fast reply. Another question. What should I be looking at for rest time on my work sets?
@willmorris41805 жыл бұрын
Since this is a precision movement, the rest interval needs to be sufficient to allow you to maintain perfect position. If fatigue creeps in, people will tend to round their lower back. I really like prescribing these in short sets, so a I can make quick corrections between sets, test intervals are short, and people only have to perform 2-3 reps which seems more manageable to an injured person than 5+, even when total volume is equal.

I'm going to incorporate these 1x per week. Cause I have low back pain almost all the time and I haven't deadlift because of it. But I will definitely give this a try. Thank you. And I love your gym setup, it's the best 👍✌️💪
@willmorris41805 жыл бұрын
I like when I see a response like this. It might be worth looking at the fact that you have back pain whether you do or don’t train. Considering the relative risk/reward of training, it seems in your case, it might be skewed heavily towards training. As I look at it, if I am going to be in pain regardless, I might as well get the other benefits of training rather than suffer the negative effects of not training.

I started doing these paused RDL for 3 set by 5 reps same as my squats when I re started a novice linear progression when my gym reopened. Previously I had tried to do deadlifts for 1 set of 5 but I tweaked my back 3 times just off the floor. The last time was at just 120kg. The RDL feels very different to a conventional deadlift but my back feels so much better. I have reached 90 kg today on RDL whereas my squats stalled today at 90kg. Am I doing too many reps per set of the RDL or is 3 * 5 ok?

Will, I got lower back pain that hasn’t showed up on mri or x rays for 4 months now. It’s a either a sharp pain in the right side of the lower back, or a dull ache or tightness kind of feeling. If flares up in running, lunges, soccer, to the point where I’m out the gym days or even a week. I now train like a pussy, and constantly over think doing anything to my back. Completely stopped deadlifts altogether as I felt even one rep will fuck it. Do you think I should think about doing some deadlifts beginning on a lighter weight, is there any logic behind stopping deadlifts causing the lumbar region to seize up and cause pain? Physio and chiropractor hasn’t helped really, only short term results and it comes back. It’s affecting my sex life too, I can’t hit that ass like I used to
