I can't believe that the 75 Honda Gold Wing barely was recognized. It is the first bike to start the touring craze. Nothing up till then and now will ever compare to the smoothness and comfort of this touring motorcycle. Definitely a landmark motorcycle.

I've been there at least 3 times. I am just like you...giddy as can be as soon as I walk in. If you like the 'art of the motorcycle' you'll love this world class museum. The building is actually a parking garage that they turned into a museum. I was lucky enough once to see the other 900 motorcycles in the basement with one of the docents. It's a must see place. I was also luck to meet George Barber that day. Well done video. Much appreciated since it's been 2 years since I've been there. You know your bikes!

@@tbone67gthenderson78 Yes and to be honest as buildings go I like Ken's joint better. Yes due to modern amenities and such Barber's might be a 'neater' structure due to tech but nothing can replace an old building with exposed beams and such. You get to see the bones of the place. I come from a building background and specialized in renovation/restoration of old buildings. I think part of the old buildings are the respect I have to the folks that built them and what they accomplished with what we would consider simple tools. Just think no power drills, no power saws, chisels and no real tape measure to just begin. An old building has a kind of warmth about it and I don't mean heat as they are usually cold due to lack of insulation. Well they may have had power tools but you couldn't bring them to the job with you as they were massive in size and weight, never mind the power for such equipment

The first time I went there I searched high and low for that Britten v-1000. Did the whole tour and it was no where to be seen, it was a the only bike I wanted to see. So I asked about it, they said it was in the shop for repair. I was devastated. Fortunately I was there racing vintage cars for the weekend. Trackside the next day, the y2k jet bike pulls into the paddock and draws a crowd, cool bike but I'm busy, then i see one of the garage bays under the timing tower opening and to my amazement, there was the Britten with tire warmers on! I dropped everything i was doing to check it out. No one else noticed so I got to spend some time staring at it in awe, and talking with Chuck about how awesome the machine is and how awesome his job is. Then he asked if I wanted to sit on it, I cried. Didn't get to ride it, but I did get to watch it do some hot laps. I never expected to see one run, never mind sit on it! It turned out to be the best weekend! That place is heaven on earth, the obscure prewar bikes, the millyard custom bikes, the race bikes, the lotus collection, everything! Can't wait to get back down there!

This is what a mueasum is supposed to look like! One of the most beautiful displays of bikes i have ever seen! If you want I can build you so.e of these displays for cheap, just for the love of you guys. Instead of just having them lined up, people can walk around. Or you guys can but some of the bikes on a stand like these so when giving the run down for the sales of the bidding. Ride em up on a a crate to do your walk arounds. We are a Canadian company, and we can take the builders out of the shop, and do some "garage builds " to save you money.

Allen Millyard makes those bikes in his garage at home and often with very basic tools like a hacksaw to chop the blocks etc down. He has a KZbin channel which I would advise watching if your interested in how he made those wonderful machines that are displayed in the barber museum as an eye opener to how much of a talented engineer he is.

I agree with your statement about the innovation era of 1965-1985 for motorcycles (born in 1964). We took a family ride to Laguna Seca in 1982 to watch King Kenny Roberts sweep the floors with competition wheeling past the worlds best! We rode down father and sons on a CBX/6, CB550/4 and 350/2 Honda innovation! Favorite bike for me was Robert’s TZ750 2 stroke dirt tracker! That was nothing but good times!
