I was surprisingly bumped to Advanced on 3/31/24 and sadly lost all my footage that day as my X3 blew off my bike never to be seen or heard from again (RIP). This is my first day and first session riding with these absolutely insane riders. This was also a special weekend in particular as there were a bunch of MotoAmerica riders practicing for the upcoming races in mid May. Suffice it to say, I was wayyy out of my league. Still fun af though!
2008 Honda CBR600RR
Dynojet PCV with custom fuel map and spark correction
Quickshifter w/ gear-dependent kill times
Toce Exhaust w/ cat delete
15/42 sprocket configuration (-1 front from stock). Speedo was corrected.
Filmed using Insta360's X3 & Go 3 cameras
Onboard telemetry was compiled using Telemetry Overlay and Race Render
Multicam editing was done using DaVinci Resolve

I just turned 54 - me and a friend started racing a couple of years ago. We both didn't get any faster until we moved up to A-group. I learned more about corner speed and race craft on a Ninja 400 than I ever did on a 600/750/1000. My friend is now racing MotoAmerica at 53! Look for him in the 600 Supersport class at Laguna Seca. AFM #47x Jeremy Taubman. Great vid - your bike sounds amazing!

I’d love to hear how you explored your venture into racing. I’m 57 and getting my first bike in this category. Rode motorcross when I was a teenager, then didn’t ride for decades., then inherited a Harley. And now… love the idea of getting on a track
@88Heckenlively

@@ssaafur As I got older with injuries (4 back surgeries in 5 years!) I was getting physically and mentally exhausted on the bigger bikes - so I went down to a Ninja 400 and racing became fun again where I could go an entire session or race at 95 to 100%. Plus, racing is expensive and the 400 is way more cost effective. Can go a race weekend on 1 set of tires and then a track day or two! I did probably 10 - 12 track days then felt comfortable to race novice class and came in 2nd in the 450 Superbike, 450 Superstock and light weight twins championship with AFM in Northern California. Now for 2024 I have to race in the expert class which will help me improve my lap times. There's guys in the expert class that do a 1:59 at Thunderhill Raceway on a Ninja 400 😮. I'm at 2:08's for reference so I have a ways to go. If you decide to race - most clubs have a new racer program where someone can walk you thru the process on your first race weekend. Good luck!

I do track days at Thunderhill on my Ducatis. 1299 and V4S. I feel like I'm a lot slower because I don't want to yard sale my $35k bike. Rode my buddies CBR 600 for 2 heats and it felt like I was just too big for it. I'm 6-215 and anything under a liter seems too small. But I'm also really tired of tossing around those big bikes and the maintenance costs. I have a Huracan and it costs less to run than those two Ducatis.

@@88Heckenlivelyexcellent feedback! Thank you. And in my mind, I’d rather start with something I can work my way into. So starting at lower cc’s sounds logical as opposed to over powering my ability. I’m in NJ, so I need to see if something similar is offered locally. Thanks again!

Oh, first time in Intermediate was nuts. Absolutely chaos in that group especially because of the large skill gaps from the slowest to fastest riders. Almost every first session there was a wreck like the first lap. Advanced seems oddly more controlled and smooth, even though they're flying.

Great video and sound! Get to 3rd gear before you enter the chicane then get 2nd before you jump the rumble strip into the corkscrew. Get to 3rd gear before entering the second S turn and carry 3rd all the way to the last 2 switch backs. Depending on your speed you could carry 3rd all the way through or drop to 2nd before you make the sharp righ/left. You'll have better drive coming out in both scenarios and gain several seconds. Nice riding man! What did you use to pull in tach, lean angle, and heart rate data(wahoo) to your overlay? Must be merging and syncing three maybe 4 data tracks? What software?
@alixvandurand
@alixvandurand Ай бұрын
Thank you! The bike telemetry such as tach, gear, throttle and speedo is with Dynojet's POD-300 that works with the PCV. Lean angle, gyro/accel, lap times, GPS/track map and true speed is captured with a Racebox Mini S. I also wear a heart monitor that works with Wahoo app on my phone. I have 3 different CSVs from those devices that I sync up and overlay using Telemetry Overlay and RaceRender. It's a long story but half the stuff was compatible with one and vice versa with other so I was forced to use both when first starting out. I've since worked with dev of Telemetry Overlay who added Dynojet support so technically I could put it all using that but I really like the custom gauge I made with RR (and the track map/position looks cooler too) so I just quickly import into my template, sync up data and export. The most time consuming part of my videos is reframing my 360 camera and doing the multi edit of my two cameras in Davinci Resolve.

You need to try use all of the road and put the bike upright faster while using that road to open up up your corner exits, you look very slow on corner exits, i think thats where you will find several seconds, use that road bro its there for a reason, also when you show the back camera you clearly see you contact patches at the apex are like a meter of the curb, try gettin closer to the inside before opening up the throtle, be safe and stay in advanced group, others will slow you down, advanced riders like a lil slower rider in theyre group, makes us help find passage points much better 😀
