Fantastic performance! And the oboe solo at the beginning of the second movement brings tears to my eyes each time I hear it. What an incredible piece of music.

The oboe / violin interplay at the beginning of the andante movement is one of the primary reasons I listen to this beautiful work. Pity that the oboe soloist was not mentioned in the credits.

I think it’s wonderful that this concerto finally seems to be more widely performed and recorded - it’s exquisitely crafted (as Barber’s music always is) and filled throughout with emotion which is always somehow restrained but nevertheless profound and heartfelt when you find your way in. The trick he pulls with the short fast finale took me ages to understand - but once I did, it made perfect sense. It’s astonishing that the Violin Concerto and the First Symphony in particular aren’t programmed more regularly. This performance (by both soloist and orchestra) is so good at probing the perturbed undercurrents of the score - thank you!!

This late romantic violon consert should, as I see it, belong among this worlds greatest violin consertos. And with such a phenomenal violinist as Maria Ioudenitch it becomes obvious. The lyric approach and the melodic upbuilding of this music is amazing, and together with the Presto in the end, which also is a phenomen in itself, this shows the greatness of Samuel Barber. Not so often played in the past, but happily now played more often.

Gdzie Pani dusza i "jej decyzyjność". . Kreatywności kobieto Ci potrzeba o reszcie nie będę wspominał. Zbączenia są pożądane :), normalność nie popłaca.
