Arnie Roth, the guy who conducted the score for this film (gorgeous score) also did the songs and music for Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper (one of the most underrated musicals ever) and other Barbie films. This guy NEEDS to be hired to write the songs and music for more musicals! He also did the music for Final Fantasy, so that's pretty good!

Saturday morning, my mum hugs me and says my birthday will be tomorrow...I re-watch this Barbie film for the 1000000st time...My dad comes back from work and says he's got a surprise for me. My friend will drop by to play with me. 14 years later. My parents are divorced and hate each other, I haven't talked to that childhood friend for many years, I've got responsibility and university graduation ahead and I'm afraid of my future. It's a late night at my grandma house and I'm eating oatmeal while talking to my aunt and I put the dvd for this movie in. I watch it for the 100th time and start falling asleep. My aunt brings me to the bed and puts me to sleep. Now I'm just laying in my bed. My grandma is extremely sick on the verge of dying, my mom is miserable, my aunt is also miserable, and idk what I'm doing.

My cousins would come over and we would play with barbies for hours, watching these movies over and over again. Every day was so bright and carefree. Can we talk about how 90's/early 2000's Barbie movies actually created some of the BEST role models for little girls? They were pretty, elegant, feisty, adventurous, had a good sense of humor, honest, and fought for a better future for themselves, friends, and family. They were-- and still are-- GOALS. And then you put a winner soundtrack to put everything together, and you had a banger movie.

The tempo of this instrumental reflects that. At the beginning, it begins low and sad, but eventually raises octaves and creates a beautiful soprano. No matter how dark life may become, only light can casts shadows, therefore the light must be around, and this music may just be that warmth we seek for comfort :') Don't feel down. Look up at the beautiful sky once in a while and hum this beautiful instrumental :')
