Lmao I do ballet. You will not break your spine doing that (once you’re flexible) but the choreography looked way better when the human actors/dancers did it! This bit was animated horribly. Her head should come much further over his shoulder so it goes between a close embrace to the “ballet language” move for “freedom” (leaning back and moving the arms like graceful wings) - I think it was to symbolise that Genevieve feels really secure with and close to Derek without sacrificing her freedom and her identity as a dancer lol but I’m probably reading way too much into it
