Barbie vs Oppenheimer is a Marketing Masterpiece

Barbie vs Oppenheimer, or Barbenheimer for short, is the biggest event of this summer. Is this manufactured "battle" all hype? Does it matter who wins? I want to take a brief look at the hype and the memes that have been generated from the marketing of these two films.

What an intro! At first, I thought I randomly clicked on a boxing clip or something. Also, had no idea Barbie was receiving so much hype, thought it was gna be a movie swept under the rugs. Oppenheimer is definitely more up my alley.

The common understanding is that Warner put Barbie on the same day as Oppenheimer as a "f you" gesture towards Nolan, who left the studio to work with Universal because of conflicts about how to deal with streaming. Warner wanted Oppenheimer to go down hard. I think this is why casual observers picked on the rivalry between the two, and then did head canon twist of the two movies not being enemies at all.

I have been dying to see Oppenheimer since the first teaser came out. I'll be watching on Thursday. I am intrigued by how much controversy Barbie caused but I'll wait until it gets released on Netflix.
