Personally I'm of two minds with this. The work you put into it looks really good, but I think it just doesn't fundamentally work. The shots were framed for the specific aspect ratio, and they followed the rule of thirds, basically what that is is a grid of pattern of two lines running horizontally and vertically on the screen, the points where these lines intersect are generally where the viewer's focus will lie. Expanding the frame wider also makes the horizontal framing space wider, meaning all the shots in the white screen versions you made have this bland centered framing to it. So I feel like in order to more effectively make use of the wider screen you're going to want to push shots around horizontally to follow the rule of thirds better. So if a shot is framed more towards the right of a 4:3 frame, push it more to the right when expanding the screen space and draw more on the left side of the screen.

I love how you did a bunch of scenes that go back to back, it really gives the feel of what the show would be like remastered! Awesome work as always!

Awesome review! I don't really watch Disney films (neither the originals nor the remakes) but I still really like listening to your voice. I found you through the remastering avatar videos and just wanna say that all your stuff is awesome!

Instead of manually aligning the backgrounds with key frames, couldn't you track the background with two or more points and attach your background plate to the tracking points? Or isn't that an option in Procreate or Clip Studio Paint? Maybe you want to first do the background panning animation in blender and then move the frames over for the character animations on top of it.

I think perhaps Zuko's ship deck doesn't as intended because they kinda went from boards to something else when you drew them, maybe the angle of the lines are off too? Separating them into boards and fixing the angle I think would help. But overall I really liked the scene you did of him getting thrown off the ship! I think the frames of him and his crew getting pushed back by water and him falling overboard look really good!!! The moving ship looks good too.

honestly, i would have LOVED to see Netflix spend the budget on remastering the series instead of live-actioning it, and i'm 101% certain i'm not alone in this

Wouldnt have made anywhere near as much money as the live action... Although i do wish they would have done this
@asozialesnetzwerk3 күн бұрын
@@MadeByIsmael Yeah but I'm pretty if it is just costwise sure we will see a 16:9 remaster in the not so distant future. Animators + generative AI should do the job for a fraction of the live action budget :D

I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw that this show has great value. I think the first 2 episodes are the worst, which is why so many people are dismissing this show as a "waste of potential". Zuko is definitely a highlight of the adaptation imo. I'd say my 2 biggest problems with this show are 1. Loong Monologues, especially the first 2 episodes. 2. Lack of character flaws/struggles, specifically in our main cast. I get that they need to save some time condensing season 1 into 8 episodes, but Katara and Aang are so boring compared to their cartoon selves. We need more character flaws and struggles for these characters to grow. Katara's growth and struggle in the cartoon North Pole episodes are some of my favorite episodes, But the live-action made so many things feel effortless and I didn't feel as much growth in our main cast. Like I said I still loved this adaption, I only critique This show because I love it and feel so much potential from this show. Lets hope season 2 learns from season 1!!

I was so pleasantly surprised by this video. Seeing the title and thumbnail, I was worried this would be yet another instance of someone lazily using generative AI to tack onto a masterpiece, but what I got was a very thoughtful and creative handcrafted approach. Even though you claim you aren't an "artist", I love that you approached such a daunting task anyways, and achieved very good results!

I think for the final scene of Aang passing out, it would have been better to center him and slide the scene to the left instead of the right, and that would save you from the awkward floaty Appa. The main reason being, if you watch the original scene, your focus is on Aang for the first half, and you see he's about to pass out, but then right as you start to feel concern, Appa and the Gaang appear, and you know he'll be ok! Great job by the way! I could never hope to be this good!

Probably easier said than done, but for the icebergs, couldnt you copy the show and create an iceberg png, then drag it behind the image, instead of handpainting them in every scene?

Nice work. The 4:3 isn't part of the charm for me, its just what the show is. There were many pros and cons to widescreen. You sit and watch old Star Trek there is something great about those close in shots when a character is talking, it just doesn't work as with a widescreen lens. The biggest challenge is inferring intent by the original 4:30. Because the scene is more of a square, its hard to be certain if Saka is meant to be central or aligned to the left in that scene where you had to extend his fishing rod. For example you could have extended the right of the scene and left the left side of the scene as-is. Personally I'd want the original creators involved to make those decisions,.
