Thank you thank you thank you for this video! Recently in my '02 ranger my check engine light came on it was driving terrible. Took it to AutoZone they ran a test. Code came back either Spark Plugs or wireset. We did the spark plugs which looked bad but it didn't solve the problem. Continued to ride rough, and engine light remained on. We then went to the next step which was on the diagnosis which said "Wireset" replaced this with a brand new set and once again the code remained it and was still riding rough slightly better then before but still rough idle. So I ordered this exact ignition coil from Autozone got it installed in 20 minutes was relieved my truck is driving like new. Amazing start, and smooth as can be. Check Engine light went off after a few starts 😁

When I try to start it, it coughs, almost starts, than kind stops crankingX than starts cranking again, same thing, cough, kinda fires, stops. I’m pretty sure it’s firing order. @@yayrdiaz-baltazar8626 Haven't yet... I've put several thousand miles on it and it still has a rough idle... That's after putting new wires, coil, plugs and several other things to it except a compression check on cylinder #5. That's where my problem shows to be. It runs like a dream on the highway but it has a rough idle still. It gets great gas mileage in town and especially on the highway!! If there were a problem with my compression I wouldn't get such good gas mileage. I'm thinking of fixing my gas throttle cable because I believe it has stretched out over the years and needs to be shortened just a bit... I have nearly 184,000 miles on it and it runs great EXCEPT when it's idling!! I can do that with a few zip ties at the foot feed... Thank you for your question 👍🏼.

I have an 04 3.0 Ranger as well and I've been getting a cylinder 6 misfire code, and I've replaced plugs and wires, so do you think that replacing the coil pack would solve the misfire problem or what other things could be causing the misfire?
@BarboursAutoHelp4 жыл бұрын
Fuel, Spark, and compression are needed to fire off that cylinder. If its misfiring it's because one or more of those ingredients is missing. Don't have a video address that yet.

@eduardohernandez3013 жыл бұрын
That could be the cause of the misfire, there are many causes and that’s one of them, if you check your coil, it might have a crack, which mine did and 3.0 v6 are known for cracks on coil pack I replaced it and the misfire went away. You can actually diagnose it by switching the plugs and seeing if it moves to the other cylinder and than you would know it’s your coil pack which I did and I just ran a obd scanner and saw it moved

Thank you for all your great videos! They are very helpful to all of us that venture into working on our cars. I have a question, totally unrelated to this video. I have a 2010 Toyota Corolla S 4 cylinders 1.8 engine. My question is: What is the correct way to check the automatic transmission fluid level? Does the engine have to be running, during the procedure? Or not? This model does have a dipstick. Thank you in advance for your response.
@BarboursAutoHelp5 жыл бұрын
It's been a while since I've worked on late model Toyotas. (I moved to a dealership 5 years ago. It's not a Toyota dealership.) But, typically, for the majority of the vehicles that I've run into it has to be running and at operating temperature. It should say in your owners manual how to do this. Sorry, I'm not able to give you a confident answer right now.
@myutube19605 жыл бұрын
@@BarboursAutoHelp Thank you very much for your response. What you say is what I have known to be correct, about older vehicles, but I am not sure about newer cars. My owner's manual doesn't say anything about. It's supposed to be a "lifetime fluid". Which I don't believe that. Anyways thanks again!
@BarboursAutoHelp5 жыл бұрын
Some times the dip stick will say how to check the fluid too. Pull it out and see if it says "check hot in park or neutral". Not sure it will say anything but its worth a try.

@@BarboursAutoHelp first thank you so much for reply my question. The problem i have in my truck is that I have a misfire in the cylinder 1 and the injector circuit the same cylinder and I changed the injector about two months ago and I changed the wires ,spark plugs and the ignition coil today and still the problem. The wird thing is that last week it has the same problem and I took it to the mechanic and when it was at the mechanic it was working fine so it worked fine for a couple days and two days ago it started again, I hope you can help me with this and I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much again.
@BarboursAutoHelp4 жыл бұрын
So, you had an injector circuit code and you replaced the injector but that didn't fix it? Then you replaced the ignition components and it still isn't working right? You have a P0301 but do you have an injector circuit code still?
@MultiPablo19874 жыл бұрын
@@BarboursAutoHelp yes sir, I have the code p0201 and p0301 .
@BarboursAutoHelp4 жыл бұрын
I'm feeling pretty confident you problem is due to lack of fuel on that cylinder. If the injector is not firing then no gas. No gas...no bang. So, I'd suggest isolating the circuit fault on that injector. You've already replaced the injector so it's unlikely the injector is at fault. (Didn't say that as fact, just unlikely. ) so that leaves you with the wiring and the PCM as possible sources of fault. If your not sure how to test these then I would suggest having a tech do it for you.....it may actually save you money. (Unless there is something realy weird going on I'd say wiring, pin fitment, or PCM is at fault. )

This may help someone having problems with spark. Ford uses a Waste Spark system, there are only 3 Coils in the Coil pack, each coil sparks TWO spark plugs at the same time. 1 5 2 6 3 4 Are the match pairs that spark at the same time, their pistons are both at TDC at the same time, one on exhaust stroke the other on compression stroke. The spark happening on exhaust stroke is "wasted" so hence the name Waste Spark system To fire two spark plugs from one coil they need to be wired in Series, so............. One spark plug sparks from center to tip, normal spark The other sparks from tip to center, reverse spark This is why there are two spark plugs listed, one has platinum tip and the other a platinum center, so both are single platinum but reversed coatings This saved thousands of dollars when installing millions of spark plugs Double platinum is what you want to use if only buying 6 Or regular copper, not single platinum or one bank will wear out the same as regular copper. Not sure of current spark plug number for the 3.0l Vulcan The AGSF12PP was discontinued, the AGSF22PP was speced but I think it was too hot for the 3.0l, made it "pingy" for some users Autolite used to make the Motorcraft brand with Ford Specs, but Autolite was sold and I think Ford contracted NGK to make Motorcraft brand now but not sure

waste spark system (1+5), (3+4), (2+6). The cylinders in the brackets are companion cylinders. They both fire at the same time. for example if 1 fired on its compression stroke, 5 is firing at same time on exhaust stroke, hence the name of wasted spark system. These coil packs do have cracking issues as they age.
