There is no one like Anthony Newley. He was a brilliant man.....singer, songwriter, actor and most of all humble. I watch everything I can find on KZbin about him. There is a great show that he and Sammy Davis Jr did together here on You Tube. It is fantastic. I read that he and Sammy were close friends, like brothers. When I was 12, I saw him perform that song on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1965. I have loved him since. Gone way too soon. Thank you, Barbra, for including him in your show.

Two absolutely AMAZING artists of pure Excellence. Listen to Anthony's In My Solitude album, gorgeously expressive soul. He sang his lyrics exactly to each sentiment. A real and pure natural singer. Thanks Barbara once again. You're an awesome example of American excellence on many, many levels.

Love that Barbra Streisand and Anthony Newley were close friends(never realized) Just discovered how truly great Anthony Newley was when I was searching for songs by Sammy Davis Jr. Watch Anthony Newley's full solo performance in character from Roar Of the Greasepaint Smell Of The Crowd of Who Can I Turn To that this duet uses on Ed Sullivan...Nothing compares to this performance!

Thank God for the browsing factor, having done that two days ago, I came across this absolutely amazing performance of Miss Streisand's with the great late Anthony Newley, Anthony's voice was in my opinion most unique in comparison to other singers. I remember an interview he had a long time ago now, in that interview he was told by the interviewer how much he loved "Who can I turn to". This amazing duet is in itself somewhere in the thoughts of all our tomorrows, it brings tears to my eyes. Thank you Miss Streisand & with respect Mr Newley. THANK YOU>

Anthony Newley was quite simply the greatest talent Britain has ever produced. His great talent was never appreciated there, but the USA knew what a great talent he was. Sadly as in the case of Julie Andrews and Newley, they have to leave England to be fully appreciated.

Newley's singing style and theatricality inspired David Bowie - you can see Newley's influence in the way Bowie rarely stood flat-footed, but showed emotion in his expressions and gestures while performing

When I saw this duet in New York, I expected a little more digital re-creation to surface. I've seen what they can do elsewhere and it would have been awesome if they had had Anthony and Barbra stand side by side digitally to sing this together. But a beautiful duet all the same. What voices!

I also discovered AN not long ago, just last November after watching "Sweet November" on TCM, film made in 1968 and, thankfully, available on You Tube. It's a gem. You'll enjoy it very much. I was intrigued by his performance and began to You Tube and Google him. That lead me to so much material, and made me his devoted fan. He is just a treasure. All those songs he wrote and sang. Another thing to mention is that his fans are very generous in sharing. Enjoy your discovery of this great talent!

You may have seen this by now but here is the original kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIuolIWvf8tqZpY It was about 2 years ago for me, I always remembered Anthony Newley's performances on Hollywood Palace which were more vaudeville/caberet singing but I never realized the pure talent he had which was unlike anyone else I've ever seen.

there are so many wonderful performances by him on you tube. He was the best between the mid sixties to the late 70s. I'm speaking about his voice and actual performances. Obviously, he worked before then and well after then, but as I said, my opinion is the best you'll find is in that era I spoke of
@newleyadmirernewleyadmirer72198 жыл бұрын
That's when he was successful commercially as well. But don't forget the beginning - a wonderful and very British comedy "Vise Versa" , again, available on You Tube to enjoy, where he was just about 16 years old. And some other shows and movies which came out of Britain, unfortunately available only in a few clips, but give an idea how good and entertaining he was.

Which one of these "screamers" could show off more loudly? I could no more enjoy "an evening" with either one. I'd be so sick of seeing them over dramatize and over-emotionalize each phrase of their singing. Why does everyone think this is such a great piece of music? It's tiresome!
