Barbra wasn't a part of "Grease". She starred opposite Kris Kristofferson in "A Star Is Born" (you reacted to "Evergreen" with the video).

Barbra Streisand "SOMEWHERE" original studio version is AMAZING!!! 🔥🔥🔥 Also, her song "MEMORIES" (original studio version) is just as amazing. Those are, by far, my favorite songs of hers and will give you goosebumps, guaranteed.

#1 song of 1974. The album went to #1 (she's the only recording artist with #1 albums in six consecutive decades). Theme to her movie with Robert Redford released fall of '73. At the Oscars, she was nominated for best actress. The song took the Best Song category. The movie ranked 5th highest-grossing that year and is now considered a classic.

One of the very best! Meticulous in her presentation and awesome in her skill. Another beautiful track from this same album is the haunting "What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?". Her catalog of music is vast so lots to explore. In the 60's she produced an exquisite Christmas album called simply "A Christmas Album" that has become one of the best selling holiday albums of all-time. "A Star is Born" has a long history and Barbra's version is hardly the first. According to most sources the origin of the story is based on two Hollywood marriages from filmdom's early days, those of silent stars Marguerite De La Motte & John Bowers and the legendary Barbara Stanwyck and her first husband Frank Fay where as the wife in the marriage rose to fame her partner, previously a huge star, falls into obscurity. The first version on which the others are based is the 1932 film titled "What Price Hollywood?". That film was then reworked in 1937 into the first version titled "A Star is Born" as a straight drama with Janet Gaynor & Fredric March, both Oscar nominated for their performances. In 1954 it was musicalized as a comeback vehicle for Judy Garland in which she costarred with James Mason, again both were Oscar nominated and Judy should have won. This is generally considered the best version even though it was cut severely after its initial release. It has since been restored with all the available footage restored, Judy's performance is really one for the ages. Barbra's version came next in the mid-70's and transferred the setting from the Hollywood studios to the world of music, but the basic framework of a the male star falling while his wife rises remained. However while the song Barbra wrote for the film "Evergreen" won the Best Song Oscar neither she nor her costar Kris Kristofferson received an acting nod. Finally the latest version with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper came along in 2018 showing the story has staying power.

When she was 17, she sang with Judy Garland on Judy’s tv variety show. Judy, in case you don’t know, was in many 1940s movies and she was Dorothy in the movie The Wizard of Oz. Judy noticed how wonderful of a singer Barbra was. Barbra’s mom didn’t really think her daughter had a lot of talent and told her that her nose was unattractive. Her dad only lived a few years when she was a child. She always missed him.

Indeed, Barbara is one of the most talented female singers of our time. However, I appreciate her much more now that I am more mature. Back in the days of her peak, my Mother loved Barbara, but I was into rock and roll, so didn't pay that much atention to her. Now I am making up for lost time. Please play more ....

I remember an interview with Nick Lowe (punk/ New Wave era) remarking that punks that they were ‘so tough’ but try holding a note like Barbara Streisand does, now, that takes balls.

She is not a GOAT she is THE GOAT. An EGOT winner, multiple Emmy's, Grammy's, 2 Oscars, and a Tony, she's sold hundreds of millions of albums, she's directed movies beyond being one of the biggest box office stars of all time, TV, stage, music, film, she's literally done it all. She was actually in the third of the four versions of A Star is Born, Gaga's was the fourth time the movie has been made. Literally any of Barbra's music is amazing, if you want to enjoy Celine Dion get to sing with her musical idol, Barbra, watch the video for their duet Tell Him. She's sold more albums that any other woman and in fact has 14 multiplatinum albums also more than any other woman.

Oh! Judy Garland starred in the first A Star is Born in the 50s, then Streisand in the 70's. Her song at the end of the film With One More Look at You is fire! Plus there's a duet by Barbra and Judy, from Judy's TV show, Happy Days are Here Again/Get Happy. 2 legends!

"The Way We Were" was a big hit for Barbra Streisand when I was seven years old and way too young to relate to the nostalgia in it. My mom liked the song and the film the song was the theme to, The Way We Were, starring Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford. Also, Streisand has no connection to Grease. You might have her mixed up on that point with Olivia Newton-John.

She's the GOAT. Incidentally, although she was indeed in the previous version of A Star Is Born, that wasn't the original: there was an earlier version with Judy Garland and James Mason, and even that was a remake of a film from the Silent Era!

Actually, the original 1937 version starring Janet Gaynor and Fredric March, had sound. The Silent Era ended in 1927 with the release of the first motion picture with sound, "The Jazz Singer, starring Al Jolson, which would also be remade in 1980 starring Neil Diamond.

Let me try to decipher your Grease connection. Barry Gibb wrote the Grease title song. Later Barry (and Robin and Mo) wrote a whole hit song album for and with her called Woman in Love, and Barry sang Guilty and What kind of fool with her. That's maybe the path from Barbra Streisand to Grease 😂😂

The Way We Were is my favorite of all of Barbra's albums, although IMO, the song itself is far from the best on the LP! Another GREAT album from her early days is Simply Streisand. Her rendition of Somewhere (song from the fabulous film, West Side Story), & her songs & full performance in the movie, Funny Girl, shouldn't be miss. Of course, the same can be said for just about anything in her huge catalogue of songs & movies.
