Yesterday I placed my wife’s ashes and played two Lucy songs. There were 14 friends and family gathered and I started with a few words and then played “The Way We Were”. After more words it was time for the placement and I choose to play “There You’ll Be” as my sons and I placed the ashes. Everyone was very moved by the songs and I want to thank Lucy and her family and team for bringing so much joy into my life. It was so good to play Lucy’s wonderful renditions of these songs. This morning I purposely listened to Barbra Streisand then to Lucy as Barbra was the standard for this song to whom everyone should be compared. The comparison is stark, Lucy’s intonation, timbre, and richness are clearly better than Barbra. Lucy is much better in conveying the emotions of the song.
