Totally. 100% agree- just saw a performance on PBS a few days ago of The Divas, and one of the three women (not sure which one) sang their rendition of this. Wasn’t bad, and I’ve had the song playing in my head over and over since then- finally had to sit down just now and hear it again from THE BEST- brings me to tears every time- especially this time, watching the video to it, which I’d never seen before. Have loved this version ever since I heard it on her Broadway album years ago, which my husband introduced me to. Barbara’s voice is such a miracle.

Early on in her career, Barbra was advised to get a nose job, to make her better looking. Several nose doctors strongly advised against it. They were well aware she was a wonderful singer. " You will never sing as well after it. The sound will alter ", they said. " When you sing, the notes reverborate through your mouth, throat, gums, cheeks, and nose. You will never sing or sound any better, or possibly even the same ". Barbra took their advice, learned to love her nose, and never got her nose changed to this day.

💕Someday, somewhere We'll find a new way of living Will find a way of forgiving Somewhere... There's a place for us Somewhere a place for us Peace and quiet and open air Wait for us Somewhere There's a time for us Someday there'll be a time for us Time together with time to spare Time to learn, time to care Someday, somewhere We'll find a new way of living Will find there's a way of forgiving Somewhere... There's a place for us A time and a place for us Hold my hand and we're half way there Hold my hand and I'll take you there Somehow... Someday, somewhere...

I am Japanese. This song came on the radio in 1985. I fell in love at first sight with a song that was introduced as a hit song from an unusual musical in the United States at the time. I was in a hurry to record it on a cassette tape and listened to it often. The song is a large-scale ballad, and I am still impressed by Barbra Streisand's singing ability and the magnificence of the song. I was 14 years old at the time and grew up without knowing the name of the song or the artist, and I learned the original song from another artist's album. I also learned at that time that the original song was from an old movie, but when I was listening to my favorite Western music in my youth, I heard this song on the radio. It reminds me of a song that I listened to over and over again.

Music , I love the wonderful world of Haute Couture. Growing up listening to mostly Motown and other black artists, of which I also have a great admiration for, especially Diana and Supremes. Maybe it was my aunt, she was the only other person ❤other types Music besides GOSPEL AND SOUL. 😂

I don't know how listening to this woman sing one short song can give me so much hope, energy, compassion, and spirit. Barbara Streisand is one of the greatest singers of all time.
@kennethjordan27157 жыл бұрын
Barbra Streisand was 43 years old when she covered this song. Now, not all singers can do what she did here. Despite her age at the time, her voice was still at its prime, even Whitney Houston (RIP) and Mariah Carey, who both looked up to Barbra and admitting having their music influenced by her, could no longer sing the way they used to in their forties. Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of the two, but what Barbra did here simply is unremarkable, bordering impossible.

When all the world seems sad and blue, the hours are late at night, the news is dismal, a simple KZbin video of you singing Guilty or Somewhere or Memories or The Way we were, or Evergreen or Woman in Love brings peace to the soul, solace to an anxious mind.

I'll never forget seeing this for the first time back in '85. This video played on a large screen in a restaurant/bar, and the place literally went silent. I then stopped and bought The Broadway Album on the way home. Fun fact: The director of this video is William Friedkin (The Exorcist, The French Connection).

Tomorrow I'll be attending the wake of my brother who died on Fri. We've been estranged for the better part of 15 yrs partly because of his drug use which began in his late teens in the 80's and continued off and on for the bext 40. Unfortunately even during his clean years, not having really done the mental n emotional work recommend he still operated in a pretty selfish manner. So our brother/sister relationship was never what it would have been hsd he never begun using. The entire family dynamic became dysfunctional and was never the same. I barely know his 15 year old and my father who passed 4 years ago i was also estranged from since a toxic relationship had developed over he and ny mothers codependency n enabling of my brother all these years. The death of an estranged family member brings a unique loss and sense of grief. My father was a big Streisand fan n i always enjoyed ber music as well. When we were kids my parents took us to see West Side Story off Broadway. 1st live musical i ever saw. Playing this song tonite in memory of my father n my brother n hoping with Gods blessing we can find peace in memories of the good times n forgiveness of the bad that was just too difficult to do in this life.

David Foster's arrangement, with the spacey intro, places the song in the ultimate dimension, a place where people can be spirtually reunited or find a freedom they may be denied on Earth. That and Barbra's outstanding vocal make this one of the best recordings of this song. She was at her peak during the 1980-85 period, which produced Guilty/Yentl/The Broadway Album.
