I can't stress enough about Raphi's versatility. He is naturally a RW, but plays LW when Yamal is in, plays CAM when pedri plays deep, moves to back to LW when pedri moves to CAM and he's still delivers every freaking time. Best in the world ATM

Also the overall system is less rigid than under xavi who was possession and players locked in their positions. There is far more in-game movement and swapping between Lewandoski, yamal, Pedri and Raphina on a whole but Raphina especially has been givne license’s to play where ever. Yes he might start on the left or as a CAM but he NEVER stays there locked through out a single game. He will start on the left or in the middle but drop deep to help build up play, come over to the right with Yamal or make runs in behind Lewandoski. And its free roaming that makes him impossible to track or keep tabs on so when he makes those runs in behind whether up the middle or wide he is almost always open he ghosts into these spaces because he is always moving not because his starting position on paper is on the left or right or CAM. That is almost irrelevant. That is what the opposition coaches are finding out when they see the team sheet. don’t focus on where he starts on paper. He is in a very literal sense unlocked.

After crying for a Busquet replacement for years with the club in big financial crisis, and then 2 replacements emerged from La Masia in Casado and Bernal is a blessing. I’m not sure there are better defensive midfielders in the world better than Casado right now but I am sure he is gonna be one of the best in his position in the world sooner than we thought. I have never seen any 17 year old defender better than Cubasi, he’s a generational talent. Pedri is a midfield general and we are seen a midfield in Barca once again that is gonna dominate football again for a long period of time with Casado, Bernal, Pedri, Gavi, Olmo and Fermin.

It seems they enjoy much more Flick’s football philosophy, the freedom they have, than Xavi’s, which is much more rigid and conservative. I’m really glad to see these youngsters for the most part working hard while enjoying their football. Marc Casado is undoubtedly the revelation of the season! What a player!

All players that started the game were with us last season. I remember Xavi saying that his team could never compete with the likes of Madrid because of lack of signings and new expensive players. Flick just destroyed Bayern with the same exact squad, bar Olmo who barely played since he joined us. Sometimes it’s not about what you don’t have. But more so about appreciating what you do have and using it to its fullest capacity. Xavi didn’t believe in thr players. Flick has shown nothing but trust and commitment to them. And they are proving him right!
