While I'm not dating anyone with a disability, I do have two friends in wheelchairs, for different reasons and I myself never really 'noticed' the chair. Sure, I recognize that they're in one but it doesn't change anything for me, it's just how they get around. They're still funny and sarcastic, and sweet (sometimes annoying, but that's friends for ya) but I never once thought they were less than or different. It makes me sad that other people only see the chair and completely look over the person.

If they need help I help, but mostly they’re fine on their own and they just want to chill and have fun. My friend who’s in a chair due to a car accident, he gets bullied a lot for it and I still don’t understand it all. He’s so kind and hilarious and he’s a human so why bully him for being slightly different.

This made me shed more tears. I was in a LDR with one Canadian guy for 1 year 7month. His families were so fond of me even though, they had never met me in person. Everything was great between us. We set a date to meet in my country (Ghana). Exactly one week 4 days to his flight, he had a car crash. The family and I rescheduled the flight so I could rather be with him. His only wish was to see me in person. I started with the necessary procedures. Hopping to show him that,, no matter the circumstances, I still love and cherish him. But unfortunately, he passed away 5 days later. I would preferred him in a wheelchair, roam around the house with him. But God's ways are not ours.

Wow.....my ex boyfriend was paraplegic and in a wheelchair. I'm a black girl and my guy was black as well but many would ask me, "girl, how can you be with someone in that condition".....they didn't understand. He was a lot of fun, very independent, we did a lot together. I met him at church at singles conference. He was very attractive, very attentive. He drove. Had his own truck and house. He opened doors for ME!We studied the bible together. He was very active and fit and participated in power lifting. ONLY problem was he suffered from PTSD and that part I could not work through. I was willing, but he didnt want the help. But I just want peop to know, that it is possible to love and have a relationship with someone who is different or have a disability.... Everyone deserves to be loved. God bless you both

I was born with muscular dystrophy but experienced a lot in my life so most people think I was in an accident. Ever since I left High School I haven't dated much due to being sick and just one thing happening after another. To be honest, I was starting to lose hope and feel like I may never live differently than I am now. I feel like I'm just doing what it takes to survive rather than actually living. But videos like this are what give me reassurance and faith that , if I just put myself out there a little more, I will find the right person for me and there will be someone that understands my situation and I won't have to be insecure or embarrassed. Amazes me how far Cole has come since his accident. I'll never forget the love and support our school mates showed him during his recovery. Most everyone stopped jumping from the bridge after his accident thankfully but there still some ppl that jump and if not from the bridge they jump from the train tracks... makes me rethink jumping when I was younger but best believe I'll never do it again. Love to see how he has overcome so much and found love ❤️😊

I agree with a comment below. Not all disabled people have to be with disabled people. I am disabled person myself (amputee) and I would not want to be with a disabled person. Why? Because I want my limitations to be filled by someone else. For example, I can't hold my babies(twins) when I put on my prosthetic legs. Imagine how disastrous it would be if I had an amputee as a husband. We would have to rely on other people. I am someone that likes to be independent unless only when I am helped by someone very close to me like my mom or husband. But that is just my opinion so don't chew me guys 😂😂 I love that Charisma can help Cole when Cole needs something like picking something for him. I am so happy to see their channel grow. I hope I grow big someday too here on youtube!

Him being in a wheelchair didn’t phase his confidence lol I truly loved him wholeheartedly and wanted to get married but I found out he was selfish and not faithful so it wasn’t meant to be. No ill will against him and he’s still a good friend. The experience did teach me so much about myself, that I can love someone unconditionally and look past a disability. I love Charisma motto saying that a disability does not define someone. This is so true. Although my husband's situation is a temporary paralysis, your channel has helped me through this debilitating disease. Crazy thing is that I have been watching you all before Guillian Barre Syndrome effected my husband. I have a disability called cerebralpalsy and it's caused because of a brain injury, I was dropped a few days after I was born, they thought I would never be able to walk, I started to walk at five years old and because of surgery, I have to walk with a walker and use a wheelchair (I just hope it isn't forever!) I also have one leg shorter than the other. Your story is so inspiring to me and I to have thought I would never found love but love should discriminate thank you for sharing 💞

I'm also in an interable relationship and it's truly amazing! I acquired my spinal cord injury in 2008 from an MRSA infection in my spinal cord at the age of 23 that left me paralyzed (T-5 Asia D) and I met the love of my life in August 2017. We are engaged and are so in love with each other. He's never been in a relationship with a disabled woman before but he doesn't look at me as broken or anything along those lines whatsoever. He took to helping me with things that I couldn't do before like a duck to water and has helped me now do things that I thought I would NEVER be able to do again and has just completely opened the world back up to me that I thought many aspects were gone forever! He is the most amazing, loving, caring man I've ever known and we can't wait to get married and spend the rest of our lives together! I love hearing and seeing stories of interabled couples, not many people talk about it but with my own KZbin channel I have a series called Wheelchair Wednesday where I talk about the in's and out's of my life in a wheelchair for the past 10 years and this is a topic I'm definitely going to be making a video on very soon!

I seriously dated a guy with one leg, in a chair sometimes, And I couldn’t believe how rude people were to come up and tell him how lucky he was to be with me. I would tell them the luck is all mine. And far from being less strong, his fake leg makes a great weapon when necessary! We ended up splitting due to various issues such as addiction and different core beliefs, but our different abilities had nothing to do with it. He did very well in & out of his chair 😉.

That's amazing. I believe it really can change your world, esoecially emotionally if it happens in the midst of the relationship. Found out my boyfriend at the time had lung cancer. We were like, okay life's short let's get married. Got married 2 months ago, the cancer spread and 3 weeks ago he had spinal decompression surgery. And now he has to be in a wheelchair possibly for the rest of the life God has given him. I freaked out. I'm still. It's very new. He gets out of rehab in 3 weeks. It's been very difficult to imagine. We didn't think it would turn for the worse in this way. It's definitely shown where my hearts at and it sucks at the moment. God truly is causing a lot of growth in both of us. I pray for a successful life for you both. Loving each other unconditionally. Which is what our heavenly father is probably trying to teach me.
