We don't really know the long-term effects of scleral tattooing, though. Except for a few rare cases that didn't receive social media 'traffic' (or enough of it to go 'viral'), it hasn't really been a 'thing' in the body mod industry until relatively recently. Maybe ancient tribes incorporated it, but is there recorded medical history? The problem is that most of the people featured in these Truly docs haven't even reached their 30's, yet they're so sure they won't change their minds. Values and beliefs often change. So do employment opportunities, and opportunities for one's children. 'Permanent' mods usually remain. People just don't think long-term.

I’m pretty normal person. I only have my ears pierced 6 times so far. On both lobes pierced 3 times and even both ears with a conch piercing. On my left ear 2 cartilage piercings and my right ear an industrial piercing. Luckily that I don’t have any tattoos on my body and they aren’t for me. I started getting my ears pierced at 24 years old with my 1st lobe piercings. The 2nd on Black Friday in 1995 at 25 years old. 3 years later my 3rd piercings on both ears next to my 2nd ones. In late May 1999 my 1st cartilage piercing on my left ear. It was over 20 years for my next piercing. I gotten my industrial piercing on September 21st,2019 on my right ear. I went through the most painful one. I tolerated the pain no problem. My reaction was on the first hole my eyes opened wide. I was glad to get it. My 2nd cartilage piercing was done in late July 2021. It wasn’t that painful at all on my left ear. Later on that same year in early December that I gotten my conch piercing on my left ear. That was more pressure than pain. I got the other one was done on May 10,2022. I haven’t gotten a new piercing yet. I still have a little hard time for trying to get the jewelry for my conch on my right ear.

To each his own, however, I find his modifications to be scattered and not having a coherent theme. This makes them look messy and unimpressive. It’s always good to have a firm plan in place so that the end result is something at least cohesive in terms of a look, rather than this wishy-washy slapdash effect we see here.

People do a lot of things because they think it makes them happy in the moment. It doesn't mean they have thought through the consequences or long-term impact, especially young people. It's the responsibility of friends and family to make them aware and to be honest. If something will greatly alter their appearance and be really "out there," cause permanent scarring, increase the risk of infections, and will make it difficult to get job, put a roof over their head, and have any kind of economic future, it's important to have that discussion.

This perfectly reflects our false Christian society, if people really believed that it's not your looks or how much money you have but whether you follow your heart, have integrity, compassion and love.
