A funny thing or two about Bardock's theme: Its called "Solid State Scouter" and in japanese the lyrics are power levels that his scouter captured, all the guys that he fought in the movie. Plus, the last number we hear before the theme become silent is 530.000, wich is Freeza first form power level, meaning that Bardock's life ended short after meeting him

For additional context, Bardocks power level was stated in a guide to be 10,000 which was considered to be high enough to threaten King Vegeta's right to the throne. However he's also a "low-class" warrior, which means he probably wasn't any higher than 1k by the time he was a kid. By the time of this movie, Bardock is the strongest saiyan.

The Saiyan army programmed Goku's pod to head to earth. With the intention of him going into the ape form and rampaging until he wiped out most of the population so the Saiyan's could conquer earth in frieza's name. But some time after grandpa Gohan found him at the end of the bardock Goku bumped his head and became a much less aggressive child. The man at the end wasn't Master Roshi, it was Grandpa Gohan from OG DB. Gohan was a student of Roshi who found and trained Goku as a child, and Goku eventually found his way to Roshi after.

At the end, that's not Master Roshi, that is Grandpa Gohan he was trained by Master Roshi as well. If you want a fun bit of lore, look up on the story of the Chinese legend "The Black Myth Wo Kong" that is who Goku is based off of, and you can draw a lot of parallels between the two. Dragon Ball itself is heavily based on a story involving Wo Kong namely "journey to the west" give this info a look you might like it.

In DBS Broly, it was indeed Bardock who orkestrated Goku's journey to Earth. This special came years before that, though, and prior to the retcon to Goku's origin story, he was sent away on a mission. In this version of events, Bardock had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with Goku's departure. He was deployed on an assignment to perge the Earth of its inhabitants so it could be sold to another alien race. Being given this assignment saved Goku's life, because it meant that when Planet Vegeta went boom, he was far away and out of danger. Goku would have carried out his task, but as a small child, he took a really bad fall and suffered serious head trauma that caused him to forget about everything and become the happy-go-lucky kid we first met in the original Dragon Ball. I think he still falls and hits his head in the revised version of events... the only things that changed were the origins of his parents and the circumstances that lead up to his being on Earth.

In answer to your question: Originally in the TV special Goku was sent to Earth to conquer it. But in the canon, it's revealed Bardock was the one to send Goku away to save his life. There is a retelling of this in Dragon Ball Super Broly that might be worth reacting to. You'll get to see Gine Goku's mother. And yes Bardock is the GOAT.

@@madmoai its been stated by Toriyama and tested independently using power levels that tthere isnt a consistent multiplier for supersaiyan or any form really. So the multiplier, especially for a saiyans first ssj transformation, because it is an intense transformation and difficult to control, it could be 50× but it could also be much higher, up to 150× depending on the demeanor of the saiyan. The demeanor effects the S cell quantity and that determines ability to transform and also power.

Everybody already said that's Grandpa Gohan. He was Roshi's Student. This movie is HALF canon now. Bardock's personality changed to be slightly less savage, and care more about Goku. In the new canon, he and Goku's mom sent him to Earth, in this movie, anybody could have done it, because lower level Saiyans are sent out to weak planets to destroy. That's just a normal thing they do, so the fact that Goku was sent out before Frieza's attack is a matter of pure coincidence and luck. Bardock DOES go Super Saiyan... but the movie is not worth it. Don't bother, it's even less canon than the noncanon work. It's literally negative canon, and that's not even a fan idea.

There’s a lot of details that are awesome to learn about Bardock, but I gotta say, it’s weird to see this specific dub version because of how weird they did some translations. 😆 Also fun fact, despite being a low-class Saiyan, his power level was higher than most Saiyans in history, including the elite. I forget the number, but I think it was anywhere from 10,000-20,000 or slightly lower, which was stronger than Vegeta when he first came to Earth I think if it’s at the upper half (which is a huge deal). Even if it’s 10,000 in this special, that’s close to surpassing KING Vegeta in power. But Bardock is a real one, challenging an entire army and Frieza alone.

It wasn't Bardock. It was some random scientist. Edit: In the new version of Bardock's story, he and his wife send Goku to Earth instead because they're worried about Planet Vegeta possibly being destroyed.
