As I Lay Dying Interview

Nick Hipa, lead guitarist, for one of the leading metalcore bands today, As I Lay Dying, sat down with Evil G. of BareBonesMusic.com during their recent headlining slot on the Cool Tour. Nick talks about "The Powerless Rise," the recording process, his current favorite song from the record to play live, and having Adam D. from Killswitch Engage producing. Also he discusses playing the Revolver Golden Gods Awards in Los Angles back in April, the bands reaction to how well the fans and critics have embraced "The Powerless Rise," songs that almost didn't make the record and future touring plans. PLUS LIVE performance footage! "The Powerless Rise" was released on May 11, 2010 and reached as high as #10 on the Billboard 200.

What keeps going everyday is knowing that there will be a new album later this year or next year. These guys are so awesome and keep coming out with even better albums. So diverese and unique style. The most inspiration band I've ever listened to. AILD "Forever!!"

I vaguely remember seeing these guys (AILD) in Marysville, Ca, quite a few years ago. I think they were playing with 3 Inches of Blood...? Point being, Tim has always been a huge encouragement to me with his lyrics. Personally, favorite band, for more than one reason. Would love to see em again.

I would say As I Lay Dying is one of the musically better metalcore bands, seeing how most metalcore is copy paste. Their music is technically more proficient than most metalcore bands.
