The one-two punch was invented by Jack Randall in 1815. In the 1840’s Tom Sayers created his auctioneer punch which changes the timing of the bareknuckle one-two.

The auctioneer one two is almost like a Wing Chun chain punch.

Make no mistake, clearly, what is being shown is very useful and workable is, but a small difference in Jeet Kune Do is that the movement is initiated with the hand, with the body/step following a fraction behind to minimize perception on the receiving end. Also in JKD, ideally the fist lands just before the lead foot touches down and while the waist is still turning into the strike. But totally understandable that it would have been (and still is) effective.

For a random video that showed up in my feed this is super interesting. I'm looking forward to finding out more about this type of history.

I notice that you bend into your lunge when you through the right, falling your weight into the strike with the lunge. It also closes distance. This is a very deep lunge for a right punch, compared to modern boxing. Lunges into shots is interesting, requires falling and great strength in the quads/hamstrimgs/ glutes and core for stabilizing. Thank you for the information

The auctioner reminds me of a wing chun kung fu chain punch. Also a little bit similar but not completley some styles of karate will lean in with there stance bringing there weight forward. But its ususally switching with the feet or a falling like step ive seen some do to achieve that momentum forward. Great stuff man this old british style boxing interests me quite much.

If you want old books, they are in the public domain now, but they have few pages, and not many illustrations. The oldest I can think of is by Daniel Mendoza.
