Welcome to the latest deep dive into the world of Bullshido-where fantasy meets reality and, often, fails spectacularly. In this video, we unravel the myth of Empty Force (EFO), a martial art that claims practitioners can knock down opponents without even touching them. Sounds too good to be true? Spoiler alert: It is.
What is Empty Force?
Forged in the deceptive depths of Bullshido Mountain by Jukka Lampila, Empty Force promised a revolutionary martial art where you could "decimate your opponent just by opening your heart." Founded in 2012 by Lampila, a seasoned Aikido instructor from Kouvola, Finland, Empty Force claimed to evolve martial arts by eliminating physical techniques and replacing them with mystical energy and pure intent.
But as we’ll explore in this video, these claims are as hollow as they sound.
A Journey into the Heart of Bullshido
We start by tracing the origins of Empty Force, from its beginnings as EFO Finland to its eventual rebranding as Empty Force International. With roots in the peaceful philosophies of Aikido, Lampila took a radical step, claiming that by understanding the flow of energy, one could redirect an opponent's attack without physical contact. He even suggested that fear and resistance were the only obstacles to accessing this so-called "EFO energy."
The Collapse of Empty Force
Despite Lampila’s seemingly credible background, the martial arts community quickly saw through the illusion. Videos of Lampila's demonstrations show students dramatically falling with just a wave of his hand-impressive until skeptics and non-believers joined in, standing firm against the "empty" forces.
One of the most notable public failures was the 2014 Barcelona seminar, where Lampila’s techniques fell flat against skeptical participants. The resulting video, now with over 2 million views, became a prime example of the term Bullshido-martial arts that are fraudulent, ineffective, and sometimes dangerous.
Watch Until the End
In this video, we break down the history, the hype, and the ultimate downfall of Empty Force.

Bullshido is an interesting phenomenon but I really want to know more about these students. No sane person can truly believe that these moves will stop any kind of attacker so I wonder what their motivations are to join. A lot of people are lonely and just want to belong to a group. Maybe that's one reason why they come together to flop around on a mat even though they know it's fake. The masters clearly don't believe in their own skills because they never accept a real challenge. Maybe they're just scammers, the students are vulnerable and the plan all along is to bleed their bank accounts as much as possible 🤷

No it's as simple as that wanting something to work does miracles. If you truly wan't to feel this magical force these guys use and at the same time "open your heart", ofcourse you will fall too, but it's not that this works, it's a combination of you wanting to do it and thinking that it's because of some force the other guy uses, in other words lying to yourself. Throw in a bit of not wanting to get to an awkward situation where nothing happens, so it's also a bit of wanting to please the other guy and this sensei and his cheap "charisma". It's the same thing with these religious practices where people just fall and start speaking in tongues etc. but this is just even more embarrassing and childish. I wouldn't be surprised if this Jukka Lampila was in reality some childish narcissist

I think you have a good point. There must be, at least for some, a feeling of loneliness and wanting to be part of an “in-group”. The leaders of these types of groups seem to share a lot of similarities with cult leaders at times. I think another less nefarious angle could be that some people just want some whimsy in their lives. Think of ghost hunters and flat earthers. Sure, there is probably a moderate percent of them who truly believe in ghosts or a flat earth- but I think there’s a part of them deep down that just really wants to believe in something fantastical. If it’s not really hurting or severely exploiting anyone, I’m not gonna judge too hard.

And BTW the radio host part is easy to explain, he's forcing the guy to stand in a way in which his balance is easy to disturb. I don't know how that's 'empty force' anyway since he's clearly touching and manipulating him...

in sports like basketball "no touch knock downs" happen all the time, the principle is to manipulate your opps mind so he falls by himself(f.e. with a crossover move in basketball), you make him "throw himself". In freestyle wrestling fake a shot and the opp level changes or sprawls.....without you touching him.

8:34 Not really. I got a guy in my workplace who takes his whatever training way too seriously. Pressure points, energy channeling etc. are part of training. When I asked if they do sparring he said yes, but not with resistance since it can injure the training partners. His ego got checked one time at nakkikioski and when us mere mortals would take that as a sign from the Universe, he doubled down and stated it was because he cant use the techniques because they are too dangerous. I just smile and nod and go do my bjj and no-gi 4 nights a week like I have done since 2010. He doesnt need to know and as long as what ever he is doing brings him some happiness or self-confidence, its all good. Only tiny fraction of bullshido practitioners actually go out and try their magic in the real world and if they do, the first time someone actually does something makes them quit or start a real combat sport. I know its just my anecdotal evidence, but pretty much every older guy at my gym has a story of "that guy" and they all seem the same.

If EFO is done with some kind of hypnotism then it may work on the reporter and radio host if they are sensitive. Of course it works on students conditioned by the teacher. For everyone else EFO is just a useless novelty.

if it exists, its real. even if its only in the mind. People like to "expose" people / martial artists because they are " in their own zone". But at the same time we live by money, where its value is also an "illusion" that billions have agreed to except and live by.....The aikido philosophy orients itself by the rules of nature and i dont see anything wrong with people like this finn to get together aiming for energetic harmony and positive social experiences. .....Hating is easy
