I’m lost for words. Incredible transformation! I know from message boards that some restorers ask about soldering and why it doesn’t work. Your method to first plate the part in copper solves that issue. Then zinc plating it and polishing restores the shiny silvery finish. I have quite a few of these models to restore and while some have intact sliding panels, several are damaged. I considered resin casting (my current method in making replacement parts) but sheet brass, plated, is something I will be looking into. It is a superb transfigurement of a model ravaged by time and oxidation.
