I could imagine some uptight parents' reaction to hearing "HEY LOOK, BARENAKED LADIES!" on a Saturday morning kids' show.

Al said in a _Rolling Stone_ article commemorating _The Weird Al Show's_ 20th anniversary that he was unsure if the CBS censors (who hounded him and his team regularly during the production of the series over its content) would allow him to say the name Barenaked Ladies on the show. So, as a failsafe, two versions of Al's introduction were shot, one of him saying "Barenaked Ladies" [which was used and seen here] and one of him saying "BNL".

Also, this song’s lyrics are a narrative of a 17-year-old girl who’s sneaking around with an older man.

Love this vid. My first exposure to BNL. How freaking tight is this performance? Those vocals. Seems mostly one take as well (ar least the audio). Weird that your channel has HyJinX and Jay Tea stuff too. I was bassist for both (well, Sprout and Jay Tea solo as well as HyJinX).

It's not a joke, that actually was her. She served as a production coordinator on two episodes of The Weird Al Show. This was right around when she started acting altogether. Her first role was in 1997, the same year she served as the production coordinator on those episodes.

Sky Larker Aw come on, she's not hurting anyone. Maybe she's not to your liking, I personally don't care about her much one way or the other, but she seems like a nice enough person. People are just out their trying to live their lives, man. Just because she might seem like a terrible actor or comedian to you, so what? She's still just a person trying to get along in life. Besides, this episode turned out alright so maybe she just missed her true calling as a production coordinator.
@semi-sweet8 жыл бұрын
Sky Larker You don't have to be sarcastic. All I was saying is you shouldn't go around throwing insults at celebrities just because you're not a fan of their work. Well like okay maybe if they're not even trying I could understand, but other than that you should put yourself in their shoes. How would you feel if you knew people were saying shit like that about you or one of your loved ones? I know you'll probably say something like "Whatever, I don't care" so okay then whatever, but just think about it.
@semi-sweet8 жыл бұрын
Sky Larker I'm assuming it because every time I say something like that to someone in a KZbin comments section they say "No, actually I wouldn't, so you're wrong." Also, it doesn't matter how much money a person has, it doesn't justify being a jerk. It wouldn't be too off base to assume she might be offended by comments people say about her online, because look at the case of Lesley Jones, a person close to Melissa McCarthy. She was getting hate mail on Twitter and she complained about it. Money =/= thick skin.
@semi-sweet8 жыл бұрын
Sky Larker Except I didn't say she was petty. People are allowed to be offended when they're being insulted.
