I just got back from Advanced Camp 1st Reg. They said that afiter revamping CST it was supposed to be more similar to Ranger School. After watching your Ranger School videos my mind is blown because everything that you are saying is the same things we did at camp just less intense. Minus the smoking and long missions. We would do 2 missions a day with only 1-2km movements in total. Anyways, love the videos. Can't wait to do ranger school in about 2 years once I finish school and BOLC!

Really enjoying these videos about ranger school. I'm finishing up my rotation in Korea and in the fall my unit wants to send me to Ranger school, been studying like crazy and constant rucking. Had some questions for you though, hopefully you can get to answering them. What some packing list tips, like things that helped you? (Construction trash bags, lamination tape, etc.) Do you think I should only do back, shoulder and legs at the gym prior to ranger school? What company were you in during ranger school? What phase was your most challenging? What was your mental motivation that kept you going? (Something you thought of when you were really feeling the pain) Would you do it again with the knowledge oh have now? If so how do you think you would compare?

Hey Nick my name is Chris Maggio. I live in Georgetown and have been a big fan for a while. It's been a great journey watching you progress and transition from the Army to a civilian. I'm joining the ROTC program at Texas State University this fall so this series is fun to watch. I've always wanted to go to ranger school and maybe become a part of the 160th regiment sometime after. Just wanted to say thanks for all the vlogs and tips. Also, cuvee coffee in Austin has some bomb cold brew.

Graduated Ranger class 70-13 in early June 1970. No prep except airborne basic just before ranger school drop off. We really travelled lite then. Never carried more than 45 lbs in Vietnam era jungle ruck -- but 4 canteens in FLA phase. Never wore helmets ex cept during mountain face climbs. All "smoking"/rookie bullshit ceased in Florida --we were treated like soldiers by then. I was sent as 2Lt in signal corps as required by Army for all Regular Army commisioned officers. No field training in ,82d Abn, 2d Inf, 1st Cav or 2d Armd Divs ever a problem after ranger school.

What would you say the probability of an enlisted with a option 40 all the way to ranger school as opposed to a trained soldiers who's been in service for at least 2 plus years. What are the chances of the enlisted passing?Given the high failure rate for ranger school.

Hey nick. I've wanted to be a ranger my entire life but I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis which inhibits me from enlisting but I was told that I would have a chance of joining if I had my medication balanced for a while. Is there any possibility that I could be Denied into Ranger school with my pre existing condition? Big fan of your channel and thanks for everything.

Daniel Coffeen so if I understand correctly after reading some things earlier, SF do more of the going over to other countries military and training them?
@healwithsteel7 жыл бұрын
Andrew Fallon yes that is the majority of their mission. CAG, Ranger reg, TF Orange, SEALS they kick in all the doors
@IamSupreme3337 жыл бұрын
Andrew Fallon Green Berets main mission is to train other militias. BUT don't be fooled. Green Berets do everything rangers do. The crazy missions, Recon, Sniping, assaults, raids. Green berets do all that. HOWEVER, their MAIN OBJECTIVE is to train militias. Rangers are a light infantry force. Think of rangers as the badass older cousins of infantry.

@andrewfallon71837 жыл бұрын
Snazzy Jesus you can I'm pretty sure. Visit go army dot com and find rotc.
@snazzyjesus29577 жыл бұрын
I looked it up but it was really confusing by the way they worded it (it takes me a while to comprehend things sometimes) so that's why I came here and asked, a forum would've probably been a better solution

I was mainly looking at the marines though, army is my second choice

Snazzy Jesus I understand that. I'm having a hard time myself getting used to all the acronyms and terminology. But like I said, I'm pretty sure you can do reserves and rotc in fact I want to say they have a program dedicated to that.
@kyllorichard32067 жыл бұрын
Snazzy Jesus yes I was in rotc and I'm in the reserve right now. It's called being an smp cadet. Simultaneous membership program. But you have to do well if you want to commission active duty being in the reserve and an smp it's competitive

Did u have ranger school in ur contact? Did u go basic, infantry training, then right into the school?
@jackanderson17417 жыл бұрын
Nick didn't go to basic, he commissioned as an officer through ROTC. I'm almost sure he didn't have a Ranger slot in his contract because I've signed the same ROTC contract as Nick. He went Ranger because he branched Infantry when he commissioned. Infantry gets the most Ranger School slots and they like to send almost every new 2LT to Airborne and Ranger Schools right out of IBOLC so they're more experienced when they get to their first platoon.
@skysantos17727 жыл бұрын
Whats up Nick, if you could rate the level of difficulty on how hard it is to get accepted into an ROTC scholarship from a 1-10 scale, 10 being most difficult, what would it be? I'm an 18 year old Cali boy and am trying to look at all my options before deciding if I want to join the military now, going to a community college then transferring to a 4 year, or anything else. I'm sure you get this a lot, but you're one of my youtube inspirations, along with Bart Kwan (don't know if you've heard of him). Army was my number one choice but I'm leaning towards the Marines now. Thanks in advance man, and let me know if you have any paid shadowing/internship opportunities coming up soon lol.
@jackanderson17417 жыл бұрын
Sky Santos as a 4 year Army scholarship recipient and currently contracted ROTC cadet I can tell you that getting an actual scholarship is gonna be a lot easier if you go Army. Marines have the PLC program which is more common than scholarships for them. I go to a school with one of the biggest MROTC programs in the country and I can only think of three scholarship holders off the top of my head. Bad thing about PLC is that you don't get any money for school even though you do get a comission. The main thing for applying for Army is to have good grades and do well in the PMS interview. I wasn't a PT stud but those two areas are what got me a four year.
@jackanderson17417 жыл бұрын
Also if you don't get a 4 year at first do ROTC for a year and apply for a three year, they're more common than 4 years.

Hi Nick I am 17 and I'm an E-2, (25B) I'm in the future soldier program and the delayed entry senior program, so with that being said, I don't ship until next year. At Fort Benning. Was gonna see if you knew if I'm gonna have fun there or if i'm gonna hate my life.
@dallasryder81257 жыл бұрын
Apples He went through ROTC, he didn't go through basic. Also you'll be on the other side of benning other than the sand hill side. Basic is just that BASIC. It'll suck for a few weeks, then you'll be adjusted. Believe me you have it good, compared to your drill sergeant who will be up at 0200-0300 getting briefed by training command. Then waking you up at 0400-0500 for PT, then hopefully off at 1900-2200. Your day unless I'm the field or during the first weeks will be done at like 1800-1900. You need to come physically fit as well. Most DS, will overlook you if you're physically in shape. Also volunteering for shit, is a great way of getting out smokings. I'm giving you free game as a current NCO. Good luck and don't be an "ultra hoo-hah" just listen to your drills, NCOs, and be cool with your fellow recruits. Everyone is going to embrace the suck together with you. Don't be a dick and help those who are struggling on tasks you're exemplary at. GL
@andrewfallon71837 жыл бұрын
Apples basic will suck anywhere you go. The first 3-4 weeks will be the hardest. That's where the transformation from civilian to soldier happens the most. The remaining weeks you will start to see improvement with yourself and your peers and your drill sergeants will be less terrible. Just remember, they have the same goal as you do - FOR YOU TO GRADUATE. They don't hate you (they don't like you either) but they want to make sure that if you're ever with them out in combat, you will have their back and they can trust you to have their back.
