Hi.hope you are well. A simple but challenging thing happened to me. When the amplifier is cold, the protection light turns on and when it is hot, the green light turns on, all the small transistors are replaced and the capacitors are also replaced, but I don't know the problem.

I’ve got a “cheap” 2 channel stereo amp that’s an A/B plus it is CEA rated. It goes into protect as soon as i turn the key on. That’s with no speakers attached. I bought this second hand for only $20 while retail would cost just over $100. I have a D class monk amp that’s made by the same company and it’s a gem of a cheap amp so I would like to get this one working if possible.

Hello there,, i have an easier, more industrial way to finding out shorts, you find your shorted power rails, and you feed them with a current-limited & voltage-limited power supply, for 3 or 4 minutes to wait for all of the components to heat up, then with a thermal Camera look for red spots on the board, if you don't have a thermal camera you can also use a compressed-Air can, and just turn it upside to spray the liquid on top of the board as to freeze it, for this you have to turn your power supply-current down like 1/3 of wha you use with the thermal camera, after you spray it all over the board, you will see first how the shorted spots unfreeze first, mark them all and don't give it too much thermal stress. Cheers!

I seldom work on anything younger than 30 years old so it is always an electrolytic cap. I usually recap before I even power anything up! LOL

I run one of these amps as a 2.1 on my desktop, powered by and old computer PSU, I have it rigged it so the computer turns on both the amp and the PSU at staggered intervals the caps can charge and so that they turn on and off with the computer.

Those pull down resistors, do they need to be in tact on the motherboard to turn on? I have 2 blown in between mosfets where 2 zener diodes came de soldered.

Hi barevids just stumbled across your vids and although I am a beginner I’ve learnt so much. Many thanks. Question please I have a jvc u -3mr midi system with low sound on both channels when vol set at max. Not the speakers nor the internal three fuses, any suggestions please?

This is the second time I have viewed your channel and both times you turned what I think is a frequency generator which is usually quiet. So why is your's so noisy if it is a frequency generator. I like your channel looking forward. Cheers!

With 5v/1-3a on the output on the diode, finding the short should be easier and faster. But nice repair and fault finding anyway!

If from the amp, it's transformer whine and nothing to worry about. If it annoys you, take the back off and wiggle the transformers around and it will stop.

Since you have limited knowledge of cap failure modes, AND they are fairly cheap, RECAP THE AMP. I don't want to hear the whining of the "don't replace it until it fails" crew. Wait till you've paid your dues (e.g., blown a priceless transformer or such idiocy).
