Most amplifiers these days require anywhere from 0.2 volts up to 6 volts in order for an amplifer to respond to the signal coming into an amplifier. Quite rite, sir. Thank you for this informative tutorial. I've had issues in the far past with amplifiers. Thankfully, my Orion XTR750.4 amp that runs my front and rear component sets is followed up with my CT-SOUNDS 1000.1D monoblock run at 1ohm to my two 12" Black Diamond DX12V4's powered by battery isolator & yellowtop optima haven't given me much hastle the 3 years I've been running them. I've fixed pathways, replaced capacitors, and refreshed solder connections as well as gone as far as fixed a 3 layer old school pyramid amp board that was cracked in half. However, I've never tested or replaced mosphets, and so on. This video helps provide me with a good process for reviving my set to the side amps that may see more use for myself or others down the road. Certainly, an idea of how to tackle my monoblock as the warranty is practically up this January. Thanks.

This is just an FYI comment so thanks for another great repair video. But I am sure you know that if you have your PC (computer) playing audio to the input jack AND a waveform generator, the negative of that is essentially referenced to earth ground. I think when you use a cell phone (a spare in case it's damaged) then you keep that ref. off of your CPU saving it from damage just in case. Still watching and enjoying this video :)

For the past five years, we have purchased two second-hand Power Amplifiers, each lasting less than two years. The last power amplifier we bought new in July 2022 was the Behringer EUROPOWER PMP2000D, which only lasted for exactly two years. All these power amps had the same issue: they could be powered on but had no sound output. Do you know what the common causes of these amplifiers to fail?

Hey there do still repair amps? I say still because this video is so old so you never know but I have an amp that needs repair and whatever is going on with it it is acting just like this amplifier as far as it not activating or running. Be cause the amp powers or and looks like it should be functioning normal no red or warning lights but it is not outputting any sounds I have opened it up and nothing looks out of order so I'm stumped because I don't have the tools to troubleshoot at what point the signal is cutoff or if it is not being activated etc the amp is a Zedition z2400d not much info about it online but when it worked fine it really put out some booming bass pro ably the loudest and best sounding I have ever heard and I used to compete with the older early 2000s Rockford fosgate amps even took 1st.place a couple times 2 15's punch power subs and the 801s I want to say was the model number and this amp would have obliterated the Rockford for sure so I'm trying to bring the z-edition amp back to life and wanted to ask and see if you still might be repairing amps and if so if you work on send ins off of here on KZbin like this if not I'm interested to know if you know anything about these amps as there is almost no info anywhere on it online at all and I snagged it up from goodwill that didn't know if it worked and didn't feel like testing it so I took a chance and it worked for me for a good while before my stupid ass overloaded it with less than 1 ohm and it quit working so I killed it everything the whole car cuz figured it went into protection mode and waited till the next day to turn it on and I unhooked the extra speaker that I was testing with the higher ohms and hooked up the usual set up and when I turned it on everything looked fine and like normal so I figured I dodged a bullet got all excited but when I proceeded to try to listen to it I got nothing from the amp have tested and tried everything and finally got a trade on another amp for some of my hifi gear put that amp in and walla so I'm sure it's something in the amp because the amp I got on trade was the last thing I was able to use to verify that the amp was not giving a y signal or output so please let me know and if it helps you can look me up on face book timofey samoylich will find me if you need to get a hold of me. Hi bro, I've been watching all your repair vids the last few days. Never knew I'd find it so interesting. I have a 4ch amp here that plays for a minute or so then the sound just disappears. The lights are still on but no sound. If I remove the remote and connect it it works again for about a minute. The amp also gets hot when it's on even with no signal. Opened it up and saw 2 of the voltage regs gets hot (7815). And 2 next to them (mur16200) both have short between gate and source. What do you recommend I do?
@barevids5 жыл бұрын
MUR1620D are not fets they're rectifiers. They're meant to have a short between 1 and 3 as you're just reading the transformer winds. Voltage regs do run warm since they're dropping voltage but shouldn't exceed 60°C. If it's a class D amp I would take a scope and see if the switching waves dissaper when the sound goes. If not, trace the audio through the board and see where it loses it.

I was the Sundown warranty repair guy for 10 years, repaired probably 500 of the SAZ-1500Dv2 that this guy is working on in this video. He is really good BTW, I am enjoying his videos. I no longer repair electronics, period, sometimes I miss it, most of the time however I do not. Still fun to watch other people in the trade. I have the files on an old computer about the SAX-1200D fix you need.

@@hardhead7056 I'm here, was looking for your SAX-1200D mod info, but apparently it's not in a file where I would have expected it, I know it's written down on a parts bag in my old parts cabinet in storage. Next time I am out there I will look for it and snap a pic.

What's the minimum bandwidth scope that can be used for amp repair?
@jojoposter5 жыл бұрын
Assuming you just want to see the switching frequency of your class d + a bit of margin i'd say min. Bandwidth should be 200kHz.. since most cheap scopes give you 25Mhz to 50Mhz as the baseline model's bandwidth any of those should be good
