Hi Doug, I just put one of these stoves together this week and used it while Christmas camping (2023) and placed a link to both your and Marc's channel (near the end). I wasn't aware until I watched Marc's video of the mods that it was your stove he had worked on. Anyway, all the Best Great little stoves. We used ours outside with the door open, near the awning of our trailer during rain, and it was so very good to have along.
@PinetreeLine11 ай бұрын
Interestingly enough the stove was mine he did mods on and ultimately a sold him that stove and a hot tent this Fall lol. So the stove has had a little bit of history. They are nice to have but moving forward I’m looking for something lighter in weight. Thanks for checking this one out Brother! 👍🏻👊🏻
@EverydayProjects11 ай бұрын
My mistake, but I now know that the stove in the videos was yours. I might modify this one too but using it just as a campfire on legs suits us for now in its factory condition. The price of them has doubled since you made this video but they are still a cheaper option to many others out there. Some of the folding ones online may be what you need if you're looking ,for lightweight tent stoves. All the Best to you, Doug!@@PinetreeLine

I find these little stoves work good for 2 days then smoke you out careful that little smoke stack is under rated. You will have to clean it pretty much every day or so. Maybe increase the stack size by 1" so you don't have to do this every day but once in a while?? Any build up of creosote and they will smoke you out i know because i woke up to a room full of smoke they cannot handle very much build up so be careful. I assume this for all these little stoves will be the same so next time i use my little stove i will have a coupling that at the start of the smoke stack it will be increased by 1" see how that goes hopefully I will feel safer and wake up in the morning 🙂
@PinetreeLine2 жыл бұрын
Not a bad idea at all. I agree. I don’t often burn it more than one night at a time and I try and use hardwoods to lessen the creosote in the stack. That being said, there’s enough creosote after one night of burning that you should knock as much out of the pipes as you can before burning for another night of camping. Appreciate you watching and thanks for your input!! Doug

I just got one last week for $58.88. It was a hot buy. I did a test to try and boil water and it took over an hour to get there. Now that was out in the open and maybe -6 C so that may have had something to do with it. But for the price can't really complain
@PinetreeLine2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jay, once the stove gets rumbling inside a tent or structure it will work better. I do find that it doesn’t disperse heat great when you use the racks on top of the stove, works better to cook or boil right on the stove if possible. I actually have made a number of modifications to my stove which allows me to cook or boil right on top of the stove after reworking the top of the stove. I will be sharing that soon in a video. Appreciate you watching brother! 👊🏻👍🏻

I copied my comment from another video, so please don't mind if sounds a little off, I loved your video just as much as the other and liked and subscribed. :-) Nice, I saw that one, Didn't go with it for 2 reasons: 1. Hated the fact that they used regular paint and had to be burned off outside first, they couldn't afford to use stove paint that was baked on? People made mistake of using indoor first and then smelling toxic chemicals and breathing it in and also making the place they used it in smell for awhile. Once you burn off factory cheap paint, then left with an ugly looking metal can that looks half burned, half dull silver that looks like it is 20 years old? Then like most have to buy paint meant for stove which cost extra that you wasn't expecting. (sorry if it isn't this stove, but I think it is). 2. I avoided it just because of paint, but second reason I avoided it is because I want a flat surface to cook on, I was "How are you suppose to cook good on something rounded", so glad that you pointed out the fact that the grills was meant to be folded in for a flat surface to cook on, you enlightened me :-), shows I don't know much about stoves, lol. But fact is, I want to cook on flat surface for faster heat, not on a grill that raises it above flat surface, and second would be, I want to cook on a flat surface for faster heat while also having side racks to keep things warm while other things finish cooking. I do not work for them, haven't been paid, but is why I went with this 18" Stove (not that the stove you showed is bad, it would have been my second choice if it wasn't for the paint, it almost was my first, and would have been, if it wasn't for the paint, and now as I learned, that you cannot have side warmers at the same time as frying on a flat surface, is why I think this one is better, can have side warmers to keep food hot while other food items finish cooking... www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JZD8JDH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Update: I looked up the one with regular paint, and don't seem to be the same model. Would have to let us know if your paint stayed on. But also, I still would go with the one I bought because as I said, I like to have side warmers to keep food warm while other stuff finishes cooking on flat surface. Thanks for video, all is helpful and it even as I said enlightened me. The one with regular paint that was toxic was this one... www.amazon.com/TMS-Portable-Military-Camping-Ice-fishing/dp/B002XNWC8A/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=tent+stove&qid=1609821372&s=sporting-goods&sr=1-2 I do wish the one that I bought came with bigger tubes for cooking potatoes or hotdogs etc. in tin foil, you also enlightened me on that. :-)

Honest revue. For something that isn't going to be used daily it's often more cost effective to buy cheap, why keep expensive gear stored to be used once or twice a year? My friend Sandy has a more expensive wood stove, it hardly gets used and aside from the door quality looks much the same, it too glows on the side I wouldn't worry about that too much.

Thanks Si! You’re 100% right, why spend money on something that will get used once or twice a year in our case. For those that will use it more I’m sure they will get what they need out of it and can always make modifications to make subtle improvements. Appreciate you watching Brother! Doug

Ya $288 is not good but if it’s available at Princess Auto it’s a great deal for under $70. Thanks for watching Doc! Doug

Liar liar, pants on fire Doug! I've seen you use it already! Did you post these videos in the wrong order by accident or on purpose to mess with our heads?😂😂👍💯

Look like that teepee is holding up good..... That stove looked too be useful and it will pack great the way all the components fit in the inside......... Not sure it'll take more heat than what y'all had in it though.....

I’m thinking we pushed it to the max SK. It worked perfect for what we needed it for and with a couple of mods this wood stove would be great. Appreciate you watching brother! Doug

These stoves suffer from not enough oxygen ...either u leave door open ..or cut a 3 in x 4 in open in the bottom...4 ins from front ...center it as best ...line the open cut inside with 1/4 in steel mesh.use screws to hold in place...this will allow enough air..to burn properly...I made a square tin cake pan style ..2 in deep..to hang under in case of ash..leaving one end open..i attached it with metal right angle L brackets ..I also blocked the front air intake in the door ......made a 4 hole slide air intake under the door...also cut down an old range oven grill 7 in x 17 in..put inside for wood to lie on...lots of air under fire for good burn ..!cheers

That sounds like another good way of modifying this stove. Thanks so much for sharing! 👊🏻👍🏻

The price on this stove fluctuates all year long. I priced it at $129.99 in Ontario just now but that being said you have to keep an eye out and get it off season when it’s usually cheaper. Appreciate you watching! Doug
