I watched this video last night and then today I got a notepad, played and paused whilst I wrote two full pages on notes for myself in my surgery book. Im still pre-op. here in the uk we have the NHS so the surgery will be free at point of use and ive had to complete a course with a nutritionist, had counselling for the psychological side...couldn't fault the process and its been brilliant to get so much support. The team follow up with you for 3 years post surgery too so I feel like between them and great informational videos like this I stand a great chance of success. Next week I meet with my surgery team and then ill be cleared for surgery. Thank you for your videos, they've been a great help x

Oh Mariah, thank you so much for this video! I was actually taking notes! My sleeve VSG is four weeks away and I've probably watched 50 videos. Yours is the best! Very down to earth and natural, not heavily edited and clipped, focused on health rather than appearance, with lots of useful tips. Just excellent! ❤ My biggest concern is that it seems like I'll have to be eating constantly. Six meals per day x 30 min. is 3 hours a day just for eating! Not to mention snacks and food prep, and making sure to stay hydrated. Who has that much time? I feel like that will be a major burden.... for the rest of my life. How do you deal with that? It really worries me. Maybe I can start having larger meals a year or two out? I did keto for awhile and the best thing about it (besides that I felt good and wasn't hungry) was that I ate twice a day and then was DONE with food and thoughts about food. It worked for me but was ultimately not sustainable in the long run.

@@MariahKuta thank you for responding 🥰.. I’m thinking of doing a two week liquid diet now (starting tomorrow) just to try it out because I know I will have to do it two weeks before surgery. Do you think that’s a good idea? And gosh you look great! Also my fear is of having saggy skin - that is why I did not want gastric bypass. With this surgery do you have a lot of sagging skin? I am 5 ‘ 4” and 267 pounds. My goal is 145lbs-150
@MariahKuta3 жыл бұрын
@@lolatheyorkipoo8013 oh you’re welcome☺️ honestly, I wouldn’t. That’s your call of course. But I had to do the Pre op diet for a couple days, and then my surgery was rescheduled due to COVID. I didn’t like having to do it twice. It’s hard enough haha. I think that’s something to save for when the time comes haha. But again, that’s up to you! What I would recommend is starting better habits now. Eat 6 small meals a day. Take 20-30 minutes to eat your meal. Take small bites and chew well. Practice drinking water throughout the day. Those kinds of things are going to be the habits you need for long term success. If you’re wanting something to follow eating wise, my surgeon highly recommends the book “Eating for Life”. It has recipes and sample meal plans, and the types of meals are similar to what works well after surgery! And yes, I do have quite a bit of loose skin. It doesn’t bother me too much, and it’s not noticeable in clothes. The loose skin on my breasts is the worst cause I was well endowed before haha.

First thing you look AMAZING. Did you have any complications from the surgery? I haven’t second appointment other Dr. Bovard at the end of May before he can schedule my endoscopy. I’m very scared about complications or that I will never be able to eat the things I use to eat before.
@MariahKuta3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! 🥰 no I didn’t! And my mom and uncle both got surgery from Dr. Bovard as well and had no issues! He’s a fantastic surgeon. :) everyone is different! My mom has a friend that had a hard time recovering from the anesthesia and had a lot of nausea. But I had a nausea patch behind my ear for my hospital stay and didn’t really have any issues with it!

My mom did had some issues with her blood pressure in the hospital, but they were able to take care of that quickly. She had blood pressure problems before her surgery and had never been under anesthesia before. But once she was fully out of anesthesia and everything, she had no issues.

Thank you so much for this info. On the 1st of may I’ll be 5 months post op. My highest weight was 329 and now I’m currently 265. The thing i struggle with the most is snacking. I’m 25 years old with a 4, 2, and 1 year old so i have snacks for them that i feel is hard to stay away from sometimes. I will definitely try chewing gum! Another thing i struggle with within my self is not noticing the weight loss as much as i thought i would. Anyone that has seen me at my highest and my current weight notices but I don’t notice it as much as I would like. Did you deal with it? If so, how did you deal with that? You’re an inspiration for me honestly. Thank you for thinking about others and posting ideas.
@MariahKuta3 жыл бұрын
Awe this makes me so happy to hear! I’m glad I can help in some way!💕 Comparison pictures and trying on old jeans have been my friend! But I struggled with the same thing around the same time! I think I started really noticing the weightloss for myself around 8 months post op. I made another video (the one before this one, 6 months post op) that could have some helpful info! Making sure you’re “eating to the edge of full” as my nutritionist puts it really helps me be satisfied enough to not feel hungry too quickly. So that helps with not oversnacking a bit. But all in all, it is a hard habit to break that takes some determination! I’m still trying to improve myself. The gum and sipping water helped me yesterday haha. Best of luck to you! You’ve got a friend in me. We’ve got this!👊🏻

Yes for sure I notice when i put on dresses that were tight last year and now i have all this room in them. I never wore jeans when i got to my highest weight because they were uncomfortable for me so i always wore leggings ao i can’t tell pants wise because ya know leggings just stretch anyway. Definitely when i put on shirts that were more fitted and now they’re loosened up now. Also yes! When looking back at pictures from before surgery and my face now is smaller. So i can tell but ya know you always have that conscious in the back of your head. Thank you again❤️

I have difficulty getting time to eat at work too! I work in a laboratory, and often go hours at a time without a break. What works for me is having what my surgeon calls “safety foods”. Things I can eat that are high in protein when I only have a few minutes. Some of my favorites are light cheese sticks, beef jerky (they sell individual serving packs at Walmart), fit crunch protein bars, etc. even just taking a couple minutes to get something in can make a huge difference!

@MariahKuta3 жыл бұрын
No, not really! Lately, since starting my new job, I haven’t been as great with my water intake. I’m working on it! But before, I’d always drink 16oz with my plexus in the morning, 32oz in my water bottle at work, and 16oz in the evening (typically a body armor lite. They’re delicious, no artificial sweeteners, and have electrolytes!). I tend to do better about my water intake when I have a routine with it. And the body armor lites are super helpful when I’m feeling dehydrated
