8:17 Actually I’d say it’s the opposite… the begging episodes has more inside jokes that involved seeing the original series and so is harder to enjoy of you haven’t seen the show, while here on out the jokes are for a lot more broader if an audience and can still be enjoyed by people who’ve never seen DBZ.

The voice actor for DBZA Frieza is Little Kuriboh who pretty much started anime abridged stuff with yugioh abridged. That's why they made a children's card game joke in the previous episode in reference to Yugioh Abridged and to a specific yugioh episode which is pretty hilarious in context of what they're saying.

You guys said something that's key. You need to watch the original version in order to get many of the jokes in the abridged version. I don't agree with the people who react to Abridged that have never seen the original, or that they skipped the original just because they played one of the video games that misses a bunch of context. If you were to give those people a DBZ trivia, they'd get a huge F

@Austin.Kilgore I respectfully don't agree with you. A lot of the jokes are based off of an exaggeration or an opposite personality of the original characters. Mister Popo is arguably one of the nicest characters in the original series, but someone who's never seen the original would never be able to assume that. Someone who only watches abridged would just think "Wow this black genie is evil". It can be very misleading if you don't know the original story

Madison's on the money. You have to pay attention to the exaggerated personalities and interactions between the characters from now on until the end. There will still be a bunch of pop culture jokes from around the time they were released as well which might not have aged so well.

Because some people like that. Some people like to watch people be confused. Or whatever, you obviously haven’t watched them so you have no ground to hate them. Some people are just interested in things you don’t understand. You can get mad KZbin for giving you three wrong results, but not the people who did them because they titles their thing correctly, you’re not their target audience. Also, as someone has watched a lot of those videos over 90% of them have already seen dbz so their saying they are watching Dbza for the first time only and not dbz.

This is for anyone who didn’t get the the joke about Roshi when Goku is talking about Dr. Briefs, it’s that from Goku’s statement he needs a ship and Dr Briefs is a scientist so he can help him. But it’s trying to imply why would a scientist know anything about how to build a rocket ship? It’s not a very well executed joke because I had to look it up when I first saw this series years ago.

It was really unclear in early DragonBall if they could fly or not. A lot of it was hand waved as high jumps with a lot of air time to the point they just said, screw it, everyone can fly now.

@@tonecoates5713 No, I mean the Raditz fight. Goku used nimbus to get around. After he died, he fell off snake way, was jumping trying to get out of HFIL. I'll be honest, I have no idea what is cannon and what is filler but based on the animation, in the the first episodes of the show, it wasn't clear who could fly and when.

If yous have ever watched Yu-Gi-Oh! before, would also highly recommend LittleKuribohs abridged version of that too. Much like DBZA, it just keeps getting better and better as it goes along. LittleKuriboh himself is also voicing some characters in DBZA like the narrator and freiza. Also Sword Art Online abridged by Something Witty Entertainment is so unbelievably good that it surpasses the original in terms of how they just rewrote the story. It's got the comedy, it's got the seriousness when needed and they took the bad parts (there was some stupid things in the original) out of the series and actually rewrote it into something really good instead. isn't anywhere near as many episodes as DBZA and Yugioh so its mostly just the first season. I first got into watching sword art online from watching the abridged series first funny enough!

While there are many in jokes that refer to the Original DragonBall and DBZ, most are subtle enough that they fly by unnoticed so it's rare that you will be left saying "I don't get it." Now that we are past the first season. I would say yhe most aggregious attempt was when piccolo tried to use his charged attack and tried to say the Japanese version makabkosopo. In the end he resorted to saying 'special beam cannon'. The cool part is that will become a recurring joke.
