Goku Black was pulled in because of the rip in the space time. When Trunks travels through time using the time machine, he creates the rip so that it can glide through the passage of time, like passing through the hallway from one room to another. What Goku Black did was force open the rip and brute force his way through, creating an instance of forced time incursion, allowing him to exist in the time he shows up in only for as long as the rip itself was opened. When GB was pulled back through the episode there, it was because it was meant to be a warning to him, saying the rip is weakening and closing and he was about to be pulled back to where he came from. Y'all need to pay more attention to the show and actively listen to the details, cause lately y'all are developing a habit of talking over the show and missing things.

Like whis said a time ring is only used to go Forwards in Time not backwards and his time ring reacting to the space time pull from trunks time travelling reacted and pulled him backwards in time. HOWEVER because the ring isn't supposed to go backwards in time it only lasted a few minutes. And that's why he got pulled back into his own timeline

You can see during the time machines take off how different they operate..the ring brings an wild black distortion but the machine is more of a “bop” and you’ve arrived

10:04 I think its because the time machine goes fully trough time and space. Unlike trunks who became a full part of the past thanks to the time machine, goku black himself didn't exit the future, he only went to the past because of a distortion of time and space, making things that belong to the future go into the past temporarily (because of the distortion) but once the distortion resolves, everything that belongs to the future goes back to the future - this didn't happen to trunks because his time machine fully traveled trough time and really entered the past, so he became technically a part of the past like beerus, normal goku, etc. - black goku was still technically a part of the future because he only got temporarily to the past because of the distortion. The distortion doesn't fully make things travel to the other timeline, it only makes them temporarily go there while they still belong to their original timeline - so after the distortion dissapears, everything goes back to normal - except the time machine because it manages to travel outside of the bonds of a timeline and makes the user really exit a timeline.

I think it’s because he came through the wormhole through the time Ring and so it was only specifically pulling him back in because he ran out of time. Although he was fairly close to it but if that was the case why wouldn’t he fight at another location ya know? Instead he stood by the wormhole.

I think the reason Trunks wasn't pulled back was simply because of the time machine. Bulma (the Future one) probably came across the possibility of the "being pulled back to your own time" thing and did something with the machine so it'd prevent that.

i don't think that's the reason at all. The time ring black has opened that portal for him to travel through and once it ran out of energy/time it just pulled him back since that's what opened it. Trunks just used a time machine and not a time ring to travel therefore it didn't open up that portal for him to travel through

Trunks didn't get pulled back because he went back properly with the time machine. Black hijacked the rift with the time ring, but the time ring doesn't allow you to transport back in time unless it's to your original timeline. So Black got sucked back in.

Trunks didn't get pulled through because he didn't come in through the wormhole, he created it. So he's not technically tethered to it when time tries to stabilise itself, but Goku Black is. He could have been on the other side of the planet and he still would have been forced through it.

That sense of security you mentioned is what kinda kills Super for me. The fact that Beerus and Whis are there in the back lets us know nothing truly terrible will happen with them there. You do realize that Whis and Beerus almost never interfere with what's happening? Whis reversing what Frieza did was only because Bulma was able to bribe them and Zamasu broke Kai rules which made Beerus step in and punish him and even then that still didn't stop the threat in Trunk's timeline. Broly, Moro, Granolah, and Gas are all universe ending threats that Goku and crew had to deal with themselves.

The time rings are deliberately designed to allow Supreme Kais to travel towards any point in the future only and then return back to its specific point of torigin in the present timeline. It is strictly forbidden to travel to the past even for the Supreme Kais so the time rings have a preset limited amount of time Kais are allowed to do similar to the time limit Whis is allowed to do his do-over technique. This is set to prevent the time line from splitting into alternatr realities and messing with the grand perfectly balance designed of the cosmos.

She is salvaging parts from both to make a new one. All she'd have to do is use the data either in the notes or from the ruined time machine that was on fire presuming he didn't destroy the equivalent storage device to a HDD or SSD. He's been back to the future multiple times so Bulma probably had the data backed up in some way that'd be compatible with both since they are exactly the same except for the spacetime data. As far as being linked like the time ring, the machines are not being they don't work the same way. Hence why Black was sent back. Trunks version works on technology that allows parallel universes using some form of location and time data. Black's ring is basically divine magic with its own set of rules. If you knew the data, you could go to Cell's timeline or any of the the others or create a new branch. Technically there had to be fourth timeline for Cell to come back. Because there's the timeline where just Trunks came back to the past. We ever see this timeline There's the timeline where Trunks kill Cell hence is alive for Black. There's the timeline where Cell came from that he killed Trunks in and where Truns would have returned to from that timeline we never see. There's the main timeline. The original timeline is actually Cell's. Trunks goes to another timeline, returns there, and dies. Presumably Babidi shows up and Buu is unleashed since no one solves the Dabura problem. They can planet hop draining energy if they manage to kill Supreme Kai. Eventually Beerus wakes up and kills Buu if he's linked to Elder Kai.

What happened is black openen a portal to the past with the TIME RING. Nothing to do with the ship or trunks. His time was up space time was going back to normal after he opened it so the ring pulled him back in to the future
