Looking at the specs... 12" blade of 0.188" stock for about $250 minimum. Let me point out some competitive options for people on a smaller budget. I would look at Ontario and Ka-bar first, though I forget all the exact models. I've seen some of the Zombie models at a huge discount sometimes. You can dye or wrap the handles if you don't like Zombie green. There's probably a ton of Condor models in this size range. I've seen the CRKT Mah-chete for as low as $50. I think people generally have good experiences with the MN65 in the CRKT and Kershaw large blades (Camp series).

CRKT is hard to beat when it comes to budget friendly tools. Tramonatia also makes an excellent cheap carbon steel machete but its not in the same class as this because the blade is much thinner. This is great for a multipurpose tool so it outcompetes the Tramonatia in that sense however the Tramonatia makes a better machete. Assuming you are using it only to chop through thick brush and grass... you won't be splitting any wood with it but that thinner blade lends itself to a sharper edge. The thing that really makes this particular tool stand out is the quality of steel used. Its about the only machete Ive found made with a high grade tool steel.

Thank you for the video. I have a Golok "1." I looked at and held a Golok 2 at a retailer store. It struck me as a bit too heavy. I was thinking when I left I won't buy one till I find a review on line. I've used my Golok a lot and I find it heavy enough to do everything I want.... not to mention I like the fact that it is lighter. Your video makes me feel a lot more comfortable with my decision not to buy the second generation Golok.

The main difference in the golok 1 and 2 is that the golok 2 have a longer and wider blade. The spine thickness is the same. And the handle on the golok 2 is wider and more rounded. And I have understand that the first JX5 was 1/4 thick. And all the others runs are thinner.

Brother I keep the regular and sold the upswept. For the use I have the blade it wouldn't make any difference to me. Since is a big blade I'm not too concerned about the tip.

Not as fancy but I use a 14 inch old hickory butcher knife I modified the handle on has worked great as a light machete

Gracias Giovanni. El golok 2 es un poco mejor. Lo único que lo hace inferior es el acero. El de las fibras de carbono es 3V y el otro es A2. Los dos excelentes en mi opinión. Gracias por la suscripción. Un saludo.
